Hey Ana..

This post is awesome - My process is a bit similar to this, with the addition of creating videos from the blog posts to drive traffic back from YouTube. Not much, but every little bit helps.

Plus, I’ve been getting a good visitor to lead conversion from YouTube when the call to action is to go to a lead capture page. (if that’s any use to you)..

I was thinking about getting more involved with SERPd, as a moderator because I really like what they’re doing.. I might be contacting Gerard pretty soon :0)

thanks

WOW! This is awesome, you just taught an SEO master class in one posting. This blog will definitely be a regular stop for me now. This may be old hat for some, but I am a newbie, and I’m learning new tips and strategies everyday.

Thanks for giving so much value!

Great Advice Lisa… I have writers block frequently! Some days I let it get to me so badly that it gets worse (LOL). Much of this is obviously self inflicted because as you say it’s not ‘law’ to post daily. I have to agree about stepping away and getting air. Often I’ll give into the dog and take him for a run on the beach and once I’m not fighting it… ideas seem to float to the surface when out of the ‘writing’ environment!!

Great post. I actually touched on this in my post today. Sometimes its just plain hard to come up with new content. The only thing I might point out is that you need to be careful when you read other blogs during bouts of writer’s block. The temptation is there to see a great article and be like “oooooh I totally thought of that” and then spin someone else’s post. So be careful!

That was very nicely written Lisa. Thanks for reminding us this amazing truth.
Our mind usually tells us that that we need to think hard to find new ideas and then work hard to get them done. In fact, the opposite is true. Good ideas come when we take a break from work (and thinking).
Some really bright ideas about my business came to me when I was away from the computer and my mind was switched off.
I had the best ideas when I was sitting at the beach in sunny Med, where there’s always a nice breeze and my only concern was what restaurant to go to for dinner. I never had any inspiration while sitting in the office… I think your post explains why. Thanks

Taking a time out from the computer always works. I usually step outside and smell fresh air, enjoy the sunshine, I take a walk and when I feel that I have already de-stressed, that’s when I get back to my computer.

Hi Lisa,

awesome advice. It’s always home-made stress if we feel stressed. It’s written nowhere that we have to post today - and we aren’t bad people if we don’t. So stepping away from the task at hand and walking around in the virtual neighbourhood (like reading other blogs and commenting on them) is a great way to reduce stress and build community.

Thanks for sharing your insights and to Ana for allowing this guest post.

It’s hard for me to believe that Ana also suffers from such symptoms ;-)

Take care

Hey Lisa

Great post. Relaxation is the key. Creative juices flow better when the body and mind are in a relaxed state.

I set my different jobs for each part of creating a blog post.
Ideas Man - Only job is to come up with ideas. He doesn’t write the blog post.
Writer Man - Only job is to write down all the points about the idea form Ideas Man.
Editor Man - Only job is to finesse Writer mans scribbles.

I try never to have them all working at the same time, its just way to stressful. So once Ideas Man has done his job hes off. I take a break, then writer man picks up the baton. Once he is finished hes off. I take a break, then its over to the Editor.

Work quite well, a lot less stress & more creative works.

Thank Ana for sharing Lisa post with us.

I thought the exact thing about Ana! She always has a fresh new outlook on things. But I guess the best of the best can get stressed. I truly feel if we help build the community, then the stress will reduce. We won’t feel so much pressure to write, and we also won’t feel the stress of the post itself, i.e…was it good enough? We can rely on the relationships we built within the community to help us through.
I appreciate you stopping by.

Yes… 7 Twitter accounts…

You know what though, with all the automation software in place, it doesn’t take that much more effort to run them. Personal engagement is the only thing that needs attention, but the amount of traffic I generate from it is well worth it.

Good info, as usual, Ana! A few months back, a good friend turned me on to FriendFeed, and that is always my first bookmark, immediately after posting anything. I’ve tested with Google alerts for unique words in a post, and have seen alerts hit my inbox in as little as eight minutes after bookmarking to FriendFeed!

I also share your enthusiasm for SERPd. Great crew over there, and I think they’ll be growing a LOT!

Thank for for referring me to IMAutomator, Ana. This tool is so great. This is exactly what I am looking for. OnlyWire is so hard to use and it’s so frustrating. I did not know what to do next when I download it. Do you have the same problem with Onlywire, Ana?

Reply

Ana Hoffman trafficgenerationcafe.com November 23, 2010 at 8:58 am

Well, OnlyWire takes time to set up, but I don’t find it hard to use. It takes me about a minute to submit my new post to quite a few bookmarking/social media websites; so I think it’s worth the trouble.

IMAutomator is great and easy; it wont’ bring you loads of traffic, but will definitely create some nice backlinks.

Thanks for coming by, Mike! BTW, I am going to keep asking you until you submit your guest post, so you’d better hurry up and do it! :)

What are ” Post to Facebook tribes.” never heard if this one before.

Hi Ana,

you are over-delivering again, thank you. It seems that isn’t rocket science. However, how many people will actually do the work that is involved with it ?

It’s like a recipe: Mix ingredient with 1 with ingredient 2, then add ingredient 3 and so forth.

I have very good experiences with Facebook tribes with regard to traffic and I’m part of the Unified Tribe also.

Thank you again.

The best backlink blog post I’ve read and whilst I’ve tried using some of the commands successfully I’ve been less sucessful in actually generating the links - but I’ll keep going.

When I worked for agencies we relied heavily on paid links and now I’m working for myself I’ve been trying to pursue a link strategy without buying links - but it seems tougher than I thought it would be - particularly as it seems ‘no follow’ is the standard practice for any decent PR blog.

Any thoughts on the split between ‘free’ links and paid - is there a range which you believe is optimum?

Reply

Ana Hoffman trafficgenerationcafe.com November 22, 2010 at 8:27 pm

Hi, Mike:

I think paid links in general are a dangerous game to play. I personally never do it.

You are right: finding great dofollow links is a challenge, but it’s not impossible. I think most of us, linkbuilders have a nice list of high PR dofollow blogs that we’ve accumulated over time. :)

Check out this dofollow tool on my blog: https://trafficgenerationcafe.online/dofollow-blogs-finder-tool/

Hope this helps!

Does pinging your content really bring you more traffic? for some reason I’m thinking no. In directly perhaps over time it can help but I highly doubt the ping itself brings in traffic.

I think the best advice in this articel would be twitter, facebook, blogengage and serpd. These are excellent channels to drive real traffic from real people that bring your blog real comment. The rest is almost hit and miss really and provide little or no consistency. This is why I think I enjoy social networking so much. The end result is always positive.

Sending e-mails a is a great way to generate traffic but I try to avoid this unless I’m throwing a content or something is happening with the website our members should know about.

Sending mass e-mails out of blog engage can bring in 100 to 1500 unique hits every time it’s just awesome!

Overall great articel Anne!

p.s. where is your blog engage button jezz?

Reply

Ana Hoffman trafficgenerationcafe.com November 22, 2010 at 7:14 pm

You are right, Brian - pinging itself doesn’t bring direct traffic.

However, it does create almost instant backlinks, as does social bookmarking. Those quick backlinks can definitely help you push your post to the top of search engines - I’ve seen it happen in as little as 2 hours after publishing.

That’s how pinging can equal traffic.

As I mentioned, some of these things are backlinking strategies that are meant to bring long-term traffic.

Ana

PS You are right I need to add a BlogEngage button. :)
