Great Ana,
When you are starting, just like in the wild, numbers do count and staying together can make all the difference. And because blogging is practically a social website it’s a very good idea to create a group of people (secret society - boy I like those
) that would help each other to prevail against those big monsters (A list bloggers).
I can see this strategy worked and you are now on your own two feet and people are struggling not to be eaten by your blog
.
(no blogger was hurt in the making of this comment, only the occasional stray visitor)
Ana,
From my heart, I feel you are one of the most creative bloggers out there.
Each of your posts presents innovate strategies I haven’t yet seen. Your FB commenting tribe idea is one of these. It’s well thought out and the proof for its effectiveness is your blog’s popularity.
My blog started to grow when I commented on others blogs. One week I had 4 comments per post, the next week I received 93 comments on a post. I networked intensely by adding value to other’s posts and received value in the form of increased traffic, social proof, and a really nice feeling of….”Yeah, people like my stuff enough to share it!”
Thanks for sharing and have a powerful day!
RB
I’m not one of your tribe members but I still comment on your blog, because your content is worth it
Comments from users that are not ‘forced’ to comment are worth more than comments from tribe members who mostly comment for the sake of commenting.
Ana:
I am truly so thankful for you. Had it not been for a personal response email from you and consumming mass amounts of your blog, I would have thrown in the towel. I was ready to quit and chalk it up to a lesson learned. You re motivated me and I am forever indebted to you.
I am so thrilled your blog has shot through the roof and I admire all the hard work and dedication you have put into it. As I said in my last post, “I know she thinks I’m not listening” but we are madam!!
Kudos to you and keep bringing the knowledge!
Hi Ana -
Yaro’s ‘free’ course got me starting blogging nearly two years ago. After, there has been a lot of trial and error to get to where I am now.
I upgraded to the Thesis theme a few months ago and love it & I started Scribe a bit ago and really find it useful…
I am really impressed with your blog and am not surprised by its success. You are very clear and current. I am glad to have found you!
Thanks for sharing-
Lori
Those are some great recommendations Ana.. I recently bought Market Samurai and it’s a beauty
Hi Ana,
I can not tell you how grateful for you I am. I was so nervous emailing you back in August to see if I could be part of your tribe. I know the rules were strict and I knew I would really be stepping up my game in a big way. And I felt like I was a kindergartner asking to play with the “big kids.”
Joining the tribe took commitment that I would be pumping out content regularly, and not just any content, it had to be worthy of comments from all of you experienced marketers in the group. I took a leap of faith and it was, by far, one of the best things I could have done for my business.
Thank you for all your help. When I joined the tribe my alexa rank was in the 3 Millions and today it is 109,985. I’ve grown in knowledge immensely because I’ve read some of the best blogs regularly and I’ve grown in other amazing ways as well. Mostly in the friendships and relationships that being a part of our tribe has given me.
It’s gone from professional connections to true friendships and I am so grateful. Thanks for letting me have the honor of taking a leadership role in the group. I’m so excited for the chance to make a difference for others like you have made a difference for me!

Heather:
thats exactly how I felt when I sent Ana an email asking a question! I felt like I was standing in front of the president asking a question that came out like Charlie Brown’s teacher…”waa waaa waaa.”
I have learned so much from Ana and now you! Kudos on stepping up to the plate with the tribe!
Good idea
Had a similar thing going back in the day, there was 8 of us and we pretty much grew each others blogs to a great level. We also used the team / tribe / group to dominate other relevant platforms like betternetworker.
Tribes work. There is some much that can be gained by owning one or being a member of one. I highly recommend it.
Congrats on being a shining example of what is possible with the help of a tribe

Dwayne
So true, Dwayne - that’s exactly what we were able to do for each.
Just looking back at the start of my blog and the only traffic I got were my tribe members… It’s a powerful way to give your blog a healthy start indeed; hope more of my readers will use it.
Have a blessed day!
Ana
This is why I subscribed to your feed. Great info. Thanks!
You are very welcome, Barry - thanks for stopping by.
Ana
Great article, Tristan. I agree with your view on bookmarking the ‘information overload’ you’re reading. I find when I later see the bookmark again I often ask myself “now why did I save this article”?
I’m the same way! I go back and look at my articles and just think, “What was I thinking…?” I’m glad you liked the article, and I really appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment, Gibson. All the best!
Hey Ana,
Who would have thought Ebay would be a great source of traffic? Thanks for sharing this with us and for the follow-up on your previous post.
All the best,
Mavis Nong
I don’t remember what prompted me to do this research, Mavis, but I am glad I did!
Ana
Hey Tristan,
Awesome post. I really like your writing style. Great to see you here again
Spot on with these distractions which we can all relate to. Thanks for your advice on how we can deal with them and stay focused.
All the best,
Mavis Nong
Thanks for the kind words, Mavis
And thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. I really do appreciate it!
I love your take on bookmarking; something I’ve tried to teach over and over, some get it, some never will.
Thanks, Dennis! The whole bookmarking thing is something I’ve learned from years of bookmarking thousands of pages… and never going back
I really appreciate the comment!
Hi Ana Great article about tribes. I just got done doing a post about tribes. I have been blogging since around 2006. My only regret is I didn’t get involved with tribes sooner.
I can really see the benefit joining a tribe has for a newbie blogger. There is so much to learn about how to blog and get seo ranking etc.. Finding a good tribe can really go a long way with helping a person learn the right skill sets.
Thanks for sharing,
Larry
I agree, Larry - the right tribe can give a new blog a push it needs.
I couldn’t find a good tribe, so I created my own.
Good to see you back on my blog; hope all is well.
Ana
Hi Tristan,
who wouldn’t be able to relate to your experiences that you present with a sense of humour and small dose of self-irony ?
I like the idea of struggling with something that makes us better. If we are struggling anyway, so the best thing is to choose a “battlefield” that helps us grow.
Thanks for sharing your honest insights.
Take care
Oliver
Oliver, I really appreciate your comment! Thanks so much for the kind words. And I love what you said about struggling: “We are struggling anyway, so the best thing is to choose a “battlefield” that helps us grow.” I couldn’t agree more.
Thanks again for commenting, and have a good one!
Tristan,
You pretty much covered most of my distractions.
I find that the more I am under pressure to get things done the less time I spend on those distractions. I have also set a time frame for getting tasks done. Like emails twitter etc. Although it is not always easy to stick to it gives me a routine I fall back to.
But I would say that my major distraction is getting to much going on. Then I have too many unfinished cycles of action….which draws my attention.
I think setting a time frame for getting things done is a great idea, Sheila. I should do that. Most of the time I just move on to the next thing on my list with the vague sensation that I have to complete it sometime soon.
And I definitely can understand having too much going on! I always try to start a bunch of things all at once, thinking that if I don’t start them, I’ll forget about them. But that ends up wasting too much time, I think.
Thanks for the comment, Sheila!
In my experience, Nofollow no follow and I am going to be very honest with you. When it comes to looking for links I look for dofollow. However, when is about blog commenting I like to do it well. If I am going to receive a link in exchange of comment, I like to give something of value to the blog owner.
I understand that, Daniel - when I do my link building, I too look for DoFollow blogs.
If you are putting all the work, might as well maximize the benefit, right?
However, when I am trying to network and connect with other bloggers, I don’t really care that most of them are nofollow.
Thanks for coming by!
Ana
Wow! this is such a great list…I’ve only done a few of those things. Looks like I got long ways to go.
What’s the fun in knowing it all, Kevin?
Welcome to my blog.
Ana
So much information about SEO and building backlinks.Thank you so much anna!
You are very welcome!
Your comment was in moderation since you are a first-time commentator; that’s why you couldn’t see it right away.
Ana
Wow you had a good audit stats here Ana! I visited susanna hess, well, I like her site too!
Thanks for visiting Susanna’s site, Tia - it’s always great to get a feedback from a first time reader!
Ana
Tristan - It’s good to see that I am not the only person that has to deal with these distractions often. Three of my biggest distractions are my TV, reading other people’s blogs, and my email.
I like your advice on how to avoid these types of distractions and stay productive. It can be a little hard to deal with these distractions at first but with a little self discipline and some practice you can tune out all the different distractions and focus on what really matters at the time.
I definitely think there’s value in posts like this where people admit their faults and things they struggle with. Not only is it helpful for readers, but it helps the blogger (me!) because you guys leave more great tips in the comments!
I think the key for me will be just making these things consistently enough to where they’re a habit and I do them automatically.
Thanks for the feedback, John!
I am a bit confused when I compare my static SBI website that is aroun1.5 sec load time and my WP blog with 4-5 sec.
I don’t think I have too many plugins, I don’t know enough about coding to see what’s wrong, some tools say to integrate all css files, but I am using a theme and have no idea how to do this.
So is WP slower over all. How do you speed up your blog when you are using just a few plugins. What when I start getting more visitors and need more plugins?
Good questions, Brankica.
Yes, WP in itself is slower, you theme can have an effect on speed, your images, etc.
I made a few suggestions in these posts:

https://trafficgenerationcafe.online/need-for-site-speed-2/
Take a look at them and let me know if you have any questions!
Ana
Very very bad distractions! This is the part I hate, when distractions are on my way especially when I am in my deadline, Oh my I can’t think when there are distractions I just want to sit and watch everything around!
Isn’t funny how sometimes the biggest looming deadlines make you want to just sit and be a lazy bum on the couch? Hahaha. I know how you feel, Tia. Thanks for commenting!!
I think I missed that original post, I’ll check it out to catch up some.
Let me know what you think, Dennis.
Ana
Tristan:
I always enjoy seeing you over here on Ana’s sie. You have a great style and you are dead on with these dstractions. I too love reading other blogs to get information. I say I’m going to read a few and end up reading a couple dozen!
Between that and Twiter, I waste a lot of valuable time. It just goes back to the basic idea that we have to focus on our mission. I have been turning off my instant messenger and closing all my other tabs while I write my post. It has helped me immensely!
Thanks for the kind words, Lisa!
I’m the same way with blog reading. I get to a blog and then see someone’s comment and go read their blog, and then they mention another blog and I go read that one… And it’s just a vicious cycle that keeps going and going.
That’s awesome that you turn off your instant messenger and all other tabs. I turn off my phone for entire days at a time when I really need to get stuff done, much to the annoyance of those trying to reach me.
Thanks for commenting, Lisa!
Hi Tristan,
I’ve battled many of the same distractions in the past.
My home looks like a museum, especially my office. They say order is heaven’s first law so my living space is…..well….quite heavenly
When I do feel like switching it up I work from the library. I find a quiet spot and either sit with the headphones on or zone out. Nobody tends to bother me when I am focused.
As for email I check it once a day. No exceptions.
Have you tried meditating yet Tristan? I think it will help you tremendously in the distractions department, as meditating has helped me to trim much of the fat, distraction-wise, from my life.
Thanks for sharing and have a powerful day!
RB
Ryan, no, alas, I fail at life and have not done the meditation thing yet…
I’m jealous of your museum house! Mine looks like… the room of a kid whose mother doesn’t make him clean up his toys.
I’ve also found the library to be a nice and quiet change of scenery.
Thanks for commenting, Ryan!
A small question: Do hot girls in malls count as physical or mental distractions?
Wow. Uhhhmmm… Both?
LOL…wow was my first thought too!!
Ana,
Read your post at BlogEngage and passed on the data. I like the idea of using different untapped traffic sources.
How is is going with BlogEngage? do you get backlinks and traffic from that site?
I haven’t been paying enough attention to BlogEngage, to be quite honest with you, Sheila.
What I like about them is how active they are; it’s nice to see a community where bloggers actually know each other and interact accordingly.
Are you an active user? What’s your impression?
Ana
Ana,
I have not joined. But I have noticed several bloggers I like to follow participate. I will be checking it out. Thank you.
