Comment posted on Sunday Coffee with Ana: Family vs Business by Alexandru Petru

Hello Ana,

I think the low attendance and views on your Sunday coffee with Ana is because many people are resting on Sundays and they want to wake up later and don’t want to open their computer, they rather go out for a walk or something.

I really wanted to attend at least one of your Sunday’s coffee with Ana, but my week-end laziness just kicked in, plus sometimes I was away.

    Hello Lisa,

I guess this is related with the post on iblogzone, which is the way you found the websites for your research?

I must say, that I am astonished on how well that traffic converted, it practically meant that 150 visitors from comments worth more the 1000 visitors that would have just read one post and left. I can only imagine how well will this have converted on a niche website, I already have some ideas.

Thanks Lisa, for spending the time to make experiments so that we don’t have too!

Sure thing, Alex. I am always here to add my useless theories in the comments on your well research, well written posts :)
  • Dofollow Nofollow Links: Is There a Happy Medium?
    Hello Ana,

I don’t really have have any opinion about the super seo comments, it’s a great plugin both for the blogger and the commenter in my view, but I see an other problem with it. I don’t know if it was the same plugin but some websites have the new pages created with the comment at the top then the article all over again.

This pages would then be filtered by search engines as duplicates, if I am not mistaken you plugin was doing it in the same way, but I see that now it’s only showing the comment.

Oh, and having people promote their pages it’s a brilliant idea, both for them and especially for you, imagine having only 10% of your commenters promoting their pages :) .

Also, I don’t think that the lack of PR is caused by the amount of outgoing links, there are some other motives that google hasn’t yet given you some PR love. If outgoing links would be such a hassle in your battle to get a higher PR then I think web directories would be doomed to have PR0 for life.

Google, has some strange algorithms to say the least, because I have an website with something around 10 millions inbound link (they are not crappy, although the majority come from sitewide exchanges) and the website is PR2. And someone with over 1000 links which ranged between PR0 and PR2 has the same PR.

  • Appetite For Traffic? The Secret Is in the Source
    Hello Alex,

I must agree with you on this one, because commenting doesn’t only get you one beneficial thing like directory submission or some social bookmarking gets but it also helps you build a relationship with both the blogger and the readers, practically you can hijack some of the blogger traffic and redirect it to your own website, while, like I said, you also build a link back, and increase the probabilities you will have a new friend that can help you in the future (I am referring to the blogger here).

But, because we are talking about a recipe here, no food is delicious if you only use one ingredient, you have to add some alternatives link building techniques, relation building (like twitter, facebook), traffic sources in order for someone’s blog to really be setup in a redundant way (if one method fails you know you can focus on an other to bring up the rear).

  • Anyone Should Blog? 3 Types of Blogs and 3 Ways to Handle Them
Blogging has progressed so far from it’s first time out in the world, but I do think that there are still people out there that blog just for fun, they just want to share their thoughts with others and interact with people which have the same interests.

But now with everyone having some kind of business going on, blogging has taken off and it certainly did all in brand promotion, not to mention the SEO part, blogs in my opinion are what seo is all about, and of course the ol’ making money with my blog trick.

Anyone can do almost anything with a blog, if they want to make money, blogging is definitely a great way, although it involves a lot of work, but nothing is easy, isnt it?
If you represent a big brand or want to build your own, blogging it’s an other great platform, you can showcase your skill and convince the prospecting investors (or clients) that you are the man.

Sooooo cute Ana. I have two little boys and until someone comes up with Star Wars Ballet I think we’re going to miss out on the whole ballet thing. Hey ho. I’m getting to know my Star Wars back to front….. today I’m Han Solo (though I had to google to find that it wasn’t Hans Solo lol). I don’t know a single mom who does’t struggle with the work/family/self balance thing. I thought working from home would be the answer - how wrong could I be - I’m up ’til 2am and haven’t yet worked out how I’m going to bring in an income ;-)

Boy, how I love being single! Gives me more time to work, work, work. It’s ok, because I know there will be a day where I won’t be able to juggle so much at once.

Kudos to those of you that are married, but kudos to people like me as well. :)

Hi Ana I can totally understand taking a family day. It’s great to get out from behind the computer (every once in a while) and spending time with the fam. I missed your Sunday broadcasts as that’s Sunday night for me and I was typically hanging out with my family.

The video is so cute! I used to be better about taking weekends off from work, but I’ve gotten back in to some bad habits over the past few months. It really is important to take family time! I’ll miss your videos, but I’m glad you’re able to spend more time with your family.

You’ve got a point, Alex. I have considered the fact that Sunday is either rest day or family day, so I totally understand. :)

Also Sunday laziness is really kicking in most of us, we have all the time for ourselves.

Anyway, your interest in my broadcast is appreciated :)

Couldn’t agree more. Sometimes you have to pull the plug on things and redirect your focus to feel good about what your doing.

Your video brought a smile to my face, I remember when mine were little and soooo cute. Enjoy the moments, they soon grow up.

Enjoy your weekends

Hi Ana, I don’t blame you one bit.

I have to admit though, although I really wanted to attend all the calls… I haven’t done a good job. If my reasons haven’t been about feeling under the weather, they’ve been about exhaustion.

We all rise pretty early in the week with the birds. At my end of the country being on Pacific time (not that many others aren’t) I find myself missing the calls even if I sleep till 8.

Spending time with family is SO important. I have been thinking about it a lot lately, in fact I just wrote a post about enjoying the moment and smelling the roses.

You also deserve this time, and although I am sure that many of us (and of course I can speak for myself) really appreciate your willingness to take the time to spend a little time with us on Sundays, weighing the importance of family time against working time is essential particularly if we’re not taking you up on it.

Time is precious and goes pretty fast and there is more to life than being a workaholic even if we enjoy it.

I feel badly for not being there will bells on, but then again I can always find a way to beat myself up or convince myself I am not working as hard as I should.

Its just the way I’m programmed.. and sense you might be similar.

With that said, I applaud you for making the decision you have and hope you are enjoying your Sunday with your little darling!

See you this week and look forward to your posts!

Ana- Getting work and family life balanced is such a challenge when you have young children. Unfortunately, I think the concept of spending “quality” time with young children is not very realistic. Devoting your weekends to your family is unlikely to lead to regrets. Have fun!

Ana, maybe I know what you mean. Today I had to work and I was unhappy to loose your Sunday Cafe. Now I read your post and it let me think…in these days I’m studying a little bit the “dynamics” of people who reads my newsletter. What can I tell you? You can give them gold and they sometimes don’t notice.
So the lesson maybe is: do what you like first…! And your family sure is the most important thing.

Ana,

How fun! I just spent the week end with my grandkids. My grand daughter turned 10 and we had so much fun giving her my mothers antique bedroom set. She was thrilled. Then we went to a wrestling tournament with my grandson. It was a great week end.

Family is the “Spoonful of Sugar.”

Enjoy yours. I am looking forward to this weeks posts.

Hi Ana!
This is so intuitive of you - yes, at some point even bloggers should spend time with their families. Finding that right balance between work and family time is so hard isn’t it?
