  I think SEO and engaging with your readers is something complementary. You have to optimize your posts to attract the visitors, then you need to interact, show them you are alive and acknowledge their visit and comment thus (maybe) making them regular readers or even subscribers.

  Anyone can see that internet is going more and more social and impersonal blog will find it harder to keep their readership while those that involve with their readers, make the seem part of a community will surely be more successful.

  What I think is better when it comes to linking is that every link should add more content and more value to the article/website. Linking should be done when you think that the the content of that link can be helpful (or explain better) what you want to say. One of the best example is when using a foreign/unknown to others word and linking to its wikipedia page.

  Hi Ana,
  I went on to visit the post you recommended about Facebook ads, because I hear a lot of people saying it’s all worth it and always brings targeted traffic. The funny thing is I never noticed an ad on facebook, I wonder where the ads go.

  In my opinion, the best traffic is organic traffic that you don’t have to pay for, you don’t have to beg for (forum signatures, ads etc) because if you have to put a large banner that says “Click here now!” to get a visitor you can bet that he will bounce as soon as the page loads.
  On the other hand organic, natural visitors who are interested in what you have to offer are the best kind and this can be obtained via search engines, social media(if done right, sometimes obligated visitors, like bloggers who had a comment from you and they come back to give you a comment, are not what you are targeting… sometimes) and funny thing, web directories (although thought dead, if you get visitors from them it’s usually very targeted).

  Maybe, there are more way but I am off to read about Facebook ads.
