Tim,

Good question. But I won’t be skeptical about this because Ana is endorsing it. Ana normally doesn’t recommend unless it is useful and outstanding.

I very much agree with your point on not to sell in emails. The emails should provide only value and increase your authority, expertise and accessiblity to people.

Emails should also be more friendly. Instead of just talking about the subject a couple of sentences on the top with some personal tint works great for me. Such emails convert more clicks and actions.

Thanks Robert for the great piece.

PS: Ana, what are you using to make the tweeting so easy at the bottom of the post? I love that!

Yup Ana that’s very true. It’s just Saturday and Sunday I am with my 9 months old. He misses me a lot already. Still sitting a lot in front of my laptop on weekends too. Can’t help it, being a part time blogger :(

Great work you ladies. You have proved something excellent and revolutionary. I know many bloggers are hesitating to put the time in commenting, since they think that reading other’s blogs for the purpose of commenting would distract them.

Now they should all read this.

    Excellent work, keep it up.

  • Ana Hoffman vs Nick Cardot Twitter Faceoff: Quality Trumps Quantity
Well yes, I am not going to comment about the quality-quantity thing here, I have already done that at Nick’s blog.

But as you have pointed out here Nick, I was one of those people following the “incredibly popular trend”. But I recently did a very big washout at my Twitter account, and have made the clouds clear so that I can see and interact with real people.

I am writing a post on the why and how of it. I surely have to link to these two posts of yours and Ana.

  • Blog Audit Friday: Lend a Helping Hand to Traffic Generation Cafe
Ah Ana see what I have missed. I took the weekend off to my parent’s home and here you have let people to audit your great blog!!! Well, I see that many people have already said what I would say.

    The praises:

    1. The one of your kind you are. Hence is your content. No one can beat you. You don’t offer bullshit. You offer original, useful and applicable content.

    2. When I come to your blog as a stranger for the first time, I know what I can get from it. You clearly spell it out.

    3. Blue and red welcomes me and makes me warm and tells to me that you are warm too. But I know TGC is not for the cool guys (I know I am neither praising nor criticizing you ;) ).

    4. You give a lot of link and keyword luv. I don’t know may be that is why you are still at PR0. But that doesn’t matter. You are being loved by real people; never mind the stats.

    Some tough things-

    1. As many have pointed out the social icons could go up. Even though you don’t have much space over the fold, I would suggest the top-right corner (above your big coffee cup) of your header to have those 4 coffee cups in small size (may be 32X32).

    2. The FB like box is now causing a bit of clutter to your sidebar, which used to be cleaner before. Do you really need it?

    3. Please please for God’s sake don’t change your sidebar to the right. I know you won’t.

    4. Your navigation bar is dull and doesn’t grab attention. Might try and different color background and some font change.

    5. You could put your contributor badges at the footer below your “About Ana” stuff. Again this makes little bit cluttering at the sidebar.

As you see, I mainly comment on the design aspects. The stats, I wouldn’t talk about them. You have great numbers.

Hope I have helped you a bit, if not to a great extent.

PS: I was just wondering while using websitegrader.com (thanks to Lisa). I see that both of our blogs rate almost the same in terms of the grade (given that your blog is about 1.5 months elder than mine ;) ). The two big differences are the number of sites linking and the number of pages crawled by Google. But could never figure out what makes these differences!

    Jane.

If Kristi’s written it I’m sure it rocks, everything she does always goes well and I reckon it’s because she is so dedicated.

Haven’t been here for awhile and it seems you’ve moved your sidebar to the left. Is that so it’s more noticeable, seeing as how people normally read from left to right and so it will be the first thing they see? ;)

Thanks Sire! I dedicated over six months to writing the content and making sure it was easily actionable.

As far as the layout here, I find that since many blogs use the sidebar on the right option, having it on the left kind of refreshens the senses. Kind of like exercising the brain and making it more aware of everything going on in a good way. :)

I have not read the book yet, but I know Kristi and it is really mind boggling how she manages to win almost every contest she participates in. Actually its no surprise as she knows what she is doing and I am impressed that she finally “wrote” the bible on how to “get attention” for your posts. I still remember a contest she participated at FamousBlogger and CoMLuv, where in her blog alone, she had a sticky “something” (will not reveal it to you, maybe on her book she does), a massive 600 plus retweets, for one single post. Needless to say she won the contest.

I second you on endorsing Kristi’s book Ana. I don’t have the ebook yet as I said, but since its Kristi, well… No need to think twice actually :)

Hey Robert,

I also heard about it a couple of days ago and didn’t take action. I just bought it now and I’m just blown away!

This is going to help me a great deal with promoting my Traffic Generation blogging contest post :)

It’s NOT for the beginner’s level, if that’s what you’re asking. If Ana got a copy and is endorsing it then…

Have a great weekend, Robert!

Hi Robert,

As far as the level of content, if you are an absolute beginner from the no Twitter or Facebook, then my guide doesn’t explain the setup of those things. But if you do have them, my guide picks up on how to build relevant followers and how to use those networks (and others) to promote your content. And of course, you have to have great content! :)

I’ve actually gotten to watch an in-house beginner (my husband) start out with his first blog, no followers, etc. and start working through some of the strategies in the eBook (starting with the social media and blog commenting), and he’s started getting some results in terms of traffic and comments. It is much of a slower climb to see massive results, but the strategies do work.

I hope this helps! :)

Not to be sceptical, but are there more traffic generation tips than the ones we already know?
Commenting, networking, seo, guest posting/guest blogging etc…?

Hi Tim,

I do address those strategies, plus a few extras. :)

I also add a lot of additional details, so as opposed to just saying “post it on your social networks,” I cover how to build the right audience who will care about your posts, and then different ways to use the top networks to get the word out there.

In terms of commenting for single post promotion, there is only one way to go if you want great results without comment spamming, and that’s with blogs like this one that are CommentLuv enabled. I also include a workaround to use if you are trying to promote posts that aren’t on your site that haven’t registered for ComLuv.

Anyway, I hope that helps reduce your skepticism. :)
