Ana,
That was another awesome audit and took some notes for my
personal blog.
I personally never liked that toolbar at the bottom and yes I do
find it extremely annoying.
Just like Heather, I have been starting to look into paid themes. I was advised by top networkers over a BetterNetworker to go with the Flexibility theme.

Ana,
This is my first time reading one of your blog audits. Don’t know how I missed them before.
What a frickin’ brilliant idea for a post - and coming from you - one should be so grateful as to have you audit them
.
It’s thorough and beyond helpful. While reading each point you left Oliver, I tried to see whether it also relates to my blog. And I’m afraid to say that many do
.
Thank you for sharing such an insightful post. I dare say that I would want you to audit mine but am too scared of all the wrongs that are probably present lol.
I’m off to read Tia’s post now.
Thanks again. Amazing job. A down right honest and complete analysis!
Cheers

Great blog audit Ana..
No homepage - that’s not good. That’s most likely a plugin that’s causing the page to redirect. It happened to me once.

Man, when do you have time to do all this. You did a guest post, answer the comments there, answer the comments here, doing analyzes. But I think this is a way to advertise your business
You did a great analyzes again, although I could add this graph to the page load speed [http://i56.tinypic.com/i1y3wk.png] - just for more information.

Another great review.
Some of your comments about current tag structure are a little tricky to implement since using those tags are determined by the original blog theme designer, and they are not that easy to change.

Hi Ana,
Huge post for a friday
I like the truth your giving to his blog. Very clean blog, he choose a specific blog post for his home page, not my favorite thing, but if this page is what he want to promote…
Maybe I would put the “recent post” more visible, to be able to read other things.
But the overall I give him a 8 out of 10!
Good job Oliver!

Being frank was always a struggle for me, since we are all trained to sugar-coat our thoughts.
I have nothing against it per se; it just takes me twice as long to write a blog post if I tried to be “nice”

I am very glad my readers accept me for who I am and know that I always have their interests at heart.

This is a very helpful audit. I don’t have a home page, now I need to add that. You also mention some other things that I think I will check into myself.
I’ve visited Oliver’s site before and I really love his photo, but I got caught up with the Wibiya bar and the social media icons. I’ll be back Oliver!

Hi Ana,
wow thank you. I am blown away.
I knew I have some issues with my blog, some of them pointed out by you, e.g. the missing home page.
Guess what, I was clicking on every available link in my dashboard in order to figure out how to fix that.
Then I gave up because I realized that it’s good for the ranking of the keyword “how to generate leads” if this page is the most frequented one - or am I mistaken ? And I generated leads through this post also
Anyway, you provide more than one reason to fix that. Chances are I need a little bit (or a little bit more) support to fix the issues - some of the aspects you point out come as easy to me as “Bohemian villages” as we say in Germany, hope you know what I mean. By the way, doesn’t matter if it’s in English or German, they use the same jargon.
You gave me a lot of food for thought, that’s great. I will let your advice sink in and write down some questions I have, also with regard to the bounce rate.
I’m definitely looking forward to the specially prepared SEO report.
A last word to my networking and commenting efforts: I wouldn’t be where I am today if you hadn’t invited me to your Facebook tribe back in July, that gave my blog and me a boost. So thanks again for including me in your community !
Be blessed.
Take care

It’s definitely my pleasure, Oliver!
As far as your home page is concerned: you are right, your situation did help you rank for the keyword! I didn’t want to point it out hoping it would slide by unnoticed.
Reason for that - you still need to set your real home page; you might be missing out on more than gaining.
The fix for that lies with your domain registrar and/or your host - it might even be the same company. Somehow you have a 301 redirect set to your home page and that’s where you fix that.
Let me know as more questions might come up; I am happy to help when I know the answer.
I am having a bit of trouble saving your report to my computer so I can send it to you; worse comes to worse, I’ll just copy and paste it for you.

Ana-you hit this one out of the park, again!
(Don’t you feel lucky, Oliver?)
I’m still working on the changes you suggested for my blog last week, but I appreciate the extra clarification on the H tags. I just checked out that post you linked to, so I could be more clear on them, but what I’m not sure of is how do I change the settings on my blog to update my H tags? I know how to do it within the body of a post, but beyond that I’m clueless.
What I have discovered in going through this process is that some of the settings in my All in One SEO Pack were set to show the blog title on every page. I wonder if I’m the only one, or if that’s the default. I can’t imagine that I would have messed with it when I was setting up my blog, but who knows. It’s all a blur.
Thanks Ana, and thank you Oliver for being the teacher in the moment!

Oliver Tausend´s last blog ..Think And Grow Rich – The Mystery Of Sex Transmutation – Lessons From Chapter 11
Hi, Heather -
As I mentioned before, your blog looks spectacular!
I don’t use All in One SEO pack on my blog - my Thesis theme does all the SEO for me, but from what I remember showing blog title is a default setting; you do need to change it though.
As far as H tags is concerned, believe it or not, I can’t help you much further on that one.
It all depends on your theme and how it’s set up - your theme is what determines your H tags.
So, you have 2 choices - either way back up your blog first!
1. Just go into your theme files and see if you can find where H tags are located
or
2. Pay someone $30 or so to fix those technical things for you.
Ana
Thanks for the information, Ana. I was guessing there was an easy way to do it, that I hadn’t discovered yet. I think I’ll leave editing the code to the pros so I don’t really mess up my blog. I bet rent a coder or some place like that would have someone who could do it for reasonable.
Hadn’t thought of it, so thanks for the suggestion.
I think I’ll be checking out a paid theme sooner than later. I wasn’t seeing the need until now.
Thanks for all the teaching!
