Do You Miss Out on Email Click-Throughs Because of This Stupid Little Thing?

See my previous post on Split Testing Tips to Increase Your Landing Page Conversion Rates

Here’s a little email marketing traffic conversion tip that cost me (and I bet you) many email link click-throughs, thus potential sales.

Ignorance is not a bliss in this case.

Some email clients, notably Gmail, which I primarily use for my business, will not make a link in the emails you send clickable if you have capital letters in your URL without using “www” first.

Example:

https://trafficgenerationcafe.online
vs
http://TrafficGenerationCafe.com

Did you notice how I capitalized TrafficGenerationCafe? That’s what I am talking about.

The second link in Gmail will not be clickable, meaning you could miss out on a huge amount of traffic conversion if you make this simple mistake.

I was doing this, and luckily a loyal subscriber pointed it out to me.

So now I’m pointing it out to you.

Lesson: Either use “www” or don’t have caps in your URLs.

You are right: you don’t have to comment or retweet, but would it help if I told you it would be much appreciated? :)

With caps or no caps?

Anyway, maybe they fixed the glitch - this is an older post. :)

Doh! Bad grammar!

www? No
Caps in URL? Yes

It was my first time here so didn’t want to drop my URL as an example and have you send me spiraling down the spam filter. ;)

I didn’t realize it was an old post…caught it on Twitter today…

Glad I found you though :)

Cheers
Jay

I tend to be a bit more selective when sending comments to spam, Jay. :)

Glad you came by; hope to see you around more often from now on.

PS Loved how you are building your list with no freebie - bloggers shouldn’t be afraid to do that.

How about a guest post on how you decided to do that and how it is going?

Are you serious Ana? What a weird rule to have in place….. I don't use gmail as often as I should but this is great to know. Thanks for the heads up. You always have great tips and advice.

Believe it or not, Christine. I’ve had this problem in my signature with http://MeetAnaHoffman.com link and could not figure out why I could not click on it.

Now I know…
