YouTube Secret Weapon Review: Video Marketing Magic Bullet?

by · 2 comments

YouTube Secret Weapon is a YT (short for YouTube) 3 DVD course created by Julie Perry and Paul Colligan in 2008.

The primary goal of YouTube Secret Weapon course is to help you to gain thousands of targeted viewers to each video you create.

Let’s take a look at the promises YouTube Secret Weapon course makes and see if they hold water.

YouTube Secret Weapon Pros:

#1. Learn some tips on how to increase targeted traffic to your YT videos and your websites - all in one place.

#2. Julie has some great people as her clients, most notably Brad Fallon, so she obviously knows what she is talking about.

YouTube Secret Weapon Cons:

#1. YouTube Secret Weapon was created in 2008 and the last time it was updated was in December of 2008 (if memory serves me right).

Much of the information (my personal judgment - about half of it at least, but don’t quote me on this) is completely outdated.

#2. Disk 1 has a lot of blah-blah on it plus very basic information about maximizing your channel appearance.

Disk 2 talks about some “gray area” tactics. If you ask me, every time somebody mentions having to change your ISP addresses to gain first page placement, it’s not exactly gray area any longer.

Disk 3 is the newest addition to the course. It basically goes on to dispute a lot of information presented on Disks 1 and 2, since much of it changed between the initial release (I think, spring of 2008) and December 2008, when Disk 3 was made.

Talk about outdated…

#3. In my opinion, the biggest mistake Julie Perry made with this course is publishing MOST of the information included in the course on her blog.

The blog has tons of tips on how to improve your YT rankings; they are free and are sent to you after you opt in on YT Secret Weapon sales page.

#4. As I read the sales letter, my eyes went big as I read things like “Frozen Video Counts - What to Do”. To my great disappointment, the answer to that question was what I read everywhere else - there is nothing you can do about it!

Some secret…

#5. Last but not least, the audio is terrible, Julie speaks very fast, and I had to listen to some of it a couple of times just to understand what she said.

I thought that $197 deserved better quality than that.

Ana’s Opinion:

I purchased the course a couple of months ago after reading so many “raving” reviews on it, plus endorsements from such marketing stars like Brad Fallon.

Did I learn something? Of course. There were some good tips here and there that I did not know before.

However, being a big video marketing fan, I already knew most of the information. I learned it from free sources like YT videos, various articles, and trial and error.

Get REAL Youtube Views Increase: 5 Tips Tutorial (I got some grief from Julie Perry on this one - she claimed that all the info came straight from YT Secret Weapon course. The truth is I’ve known these YouTube marketing tips since I started doing video marketing; much of this info is plain common sense and is available for free for those who know how to do their research. One thing that I did learn from YouTube Secret Weapon that I mentioned in my post was about categories, namely which one of them are more popular than others.

By now you guessed that my personal opinion on YouTube Secret Weapon is keep your money.

However, if you are still itching to check it out for yourself, do me a favor and use my affiliate link (at least I might recoup some of $197 I spent on the course:) http://bit.ly/YTSecretWeapon
