In the marketing spotlight this week:

♨ how to get UNstuck; ♨ an improved search box within the search results; ♨ the YouTube keyword tool shutdown; ♨ do secure sites really get higher rankings? ♨ WordPress 4.0 'Benny' is out; ♨ a Facebook-style filtered feed is coming to Twitter; ♨ Twitpic is closing; ♨ Getty Images has sued Microsoft; ♨ Massive Home Depot cyber breach; ♨ plus, Namecheap Accounts Compromised in Data Breach; ♨ ...and more.

Don’t have the time to read all the marketing news, blog posts, announcements, and other content related to SEO/social media/online marketing published each week?

I’ve got you covered.

I sift through trillions (well, hundreds) of online publications to stay on top of marketing news that might affect your online business.

Let’s start with the news from Traffic Generation Café.

At TrafficGenerationCafe.com

You know that feeling you get when you imagine what life would be like if you could just get your business functioning at the next level?

And then you look at your results, the slow progress and wish you could get it sorted faster?

Frustrating, right?

Well, you’re not alone.

Laura Leigh Clarke has worked with hundreds of entrepreneurs and business owners to help them live the life they really want, and this frustration is a common feeling amongst *ALL* movers and shakers.

It’s the feeling of being STUCK.

And in helping them get unstuck, Laura has found there are 7 core themes in the experience of being STUCK.

  • Don’t know how to go about getting what you want
  • Doing things that aren’t aligned with your true passion
  • Doing things that don’t suit your personality
  • Letting past dramas talk you out of what you really want
  • Picking projects that are doomed to failure
  • No process to continually assess how to stay on track
  • Not knowing how to monetise your projects

Maybe some of these themes resonate with you?

They certainly have done with me over the years…

And I keep connecting with people who feel stuck.

And these aren’t dumb people.
Far from it.
Most are pretty smart and pretty switched on.

They just haven’t got the business and money thing nailed yet.

They’re motivated.
They care.

And they put their heart and soul into building their business – into creating a good life for themselves and their families, and into making a meaningful contribution to the world.

They also work so hard!

(Is this sounding familiar yet?)

And the things that they think should work (and that they put their time and energy into) - just don’t.

Then they get cynical.

They stop trusting the supposed “experts”, and don’t want to spend money on course after course that promise it all and deliver nothing.

And I can understand this…

It wears on me too.

So, when I heard what Laura Leigh Clarke was doing, I had to know more.

Over the last couple of years Laura has been taking our world by storm, helping hundreds of aspiring entrepreneurs to achieve true success both online and off.

She uses practical methods to help people work out the things that are flat-out going to work for THEIR personality…

And what I love about this is that there is a system to it.

She actually wrote a book on her methods, which was published by Hay House back in 2012: “Wire Yourself for Wealth”. Since then she has honed the process to make it EVEN MORE effective!

Laura reached the point where she’d just had it seeing people struggle when there was a way they could get the momentum they crave in their business.

So last year she put on a couple of very special no-cost training events for her readers, to teach them the truth about how things really work, what “common knowledge” advice they should ignore, and what they really need to do to be successful, given their personality.

And she blew them away!

The feedback from many of the people who were on those calls was that they were the most powerfully transformative trainings they’d ever experienced.

And now it’s your turn.

I’ve made arrangements with Laura for an exclusive webinar for Traffic Generation Café readers to show us how to…

  • get over feeling stuck,
  • zero in on things that we actually enjoy doing while growing our businesses,
  • AND make money off those things.

All you have to do is register, and show up at
2pm Eastern, 11am Pacific, 7pm UK Time
on Thursday, September 11th - sharp!

Trust me, you don’t want to miss this.

It’s going to be intense, (bring pen and paper!), and I’m looking forward to seeing you there.

Questions? Leave me a comment.

Comments? Leave me a comment.

But if you’re at all interested, then register - this is an opportunity that you don’t want to miss.

Disclaimer:  Yes, there’s a product attached to this webinar - Laura Leigh Clarke’s all-inclusive Get Unstuck 12-week action program. Laura gave me access to it to analyze it from every angle to see if it’s a worthy match for Traffic Generation Café readers.

(I’ve been going through the program for the past week, analyzing my money making situation at Traffic Generation Café, and realizing why I don’t make nearly as much money as I should. And boy, was I in for a rude (but refreshing!) awakening! Look forward to implementing what I’ve learned from Laura…)

However, this webinar is so valuable in and of itself that you can’t afford to miss it - whether you decide to go forth with Laura’s course or not.

If you do decide to purchase it, Laura will share her glorious earnings with me. (Remember I said I was putting into practice what I’ve learned from Laura?…)

Either way, you’ll greatly benefit from this webinar, so come hang out with Laura and me this Thursday, September 11, at 2 pm EST:

Now that you’ve registered, on to the marketing news of the past week.

Google Search

HTTPS vs. HTTP – analysis: Do secure sites really get higher rankings? Searchmetrics.com says no.

New Google search feature: an improved search box within the search results. Apparently, starting today we’ll start seeing a new and improved sitelinks search box. When shown, it will make it easier for users to reach specific content on your site, directly through your own site-search pages.

The YouTube keyword tool has been shuttered for good in favor of the Display Planner’s AdWords for video keyword suggestions.

[share]By the way, you should share this post right now before you forget - much appreciated![/share]

WordPress

Version 4.0 of WordPress, named “Benny” in honor of jazz clarinetist and bandleader Benny Goodman, is available for download or update in your WordPress dashboard. Take a quick tour of the new features and update, update, update!

Social Media

It appears that a Facebook-style filtered feed is coming to Twitter, whether you like it or not.

Facebook moved to better educate its users about privacy settings on the social network - with the help of a blue dragon.

Pinterest’s social faux pas: Pinterest sent emails to a bunch of single women congratulating them on being engaged. Would’ve been funnier had Pinterest sent those emails to the ladies’ boyfriends…

Twitpic is closing — and putting the blame on Twitter.

Marketing This & That

Getty Images has sued Microsoft over copyright infringement over the Bing Image Widget Tool where you can take a query and embed it on your site, and Bing will display images matches the query.

Massive Home Depot cyber breach happened months ago & company only found about it now. And they aren’t doing much about it so far…

Namecheap customer? Namecheap Accounts Compromised in Data Breach. Reset your password, enable two-factor authentication, and don’t use the same password for more than one account!

An unknown drone pilot shot video of the future home of Apple’s “spaceship” headquarters.

Thank You

    Hi Ana,

Regarding the latest WordPress update to version 4.0, I and some others have had problems with this version being compatible with older versions of Thesis theme. I still use 1.8.5 because I could not figure out how to use version 2.0. I am still working on restoring my blog’s comments and some other things. The good news is that there seems to be fixes available in the forums. 🙂 (I told you I was going to blow up my blog…hehe)

    Have a great day!

    Lou

      That’s why I switched to Genesis, Lou - Thesis 2.0 just wasn’t well-thought through.

Keep on blogging; it’s good for the soul! 😉

Too bad for NameCheap users. And here I was considering to switch. Chances are, there are likely to spend more time to security now, so maybe it’s not a bad idea after all.

Ana — as usual, thanks for the articles with helpful tips. I particularly liked “What Makes People Read Your Blog Post” (and your thoughts). It hit home that generic headlines are not grabbers and that the benefit has to be very specific.

That was definitely a great post, Jeannette - we always read about the way we should do things, but it’s even more helpful to know what we shouldn’t do, right?

That’s precisely what we try to do in my new G+ community http://tgcafe.it/spinach-in-your-teeth; you should check it out, if you haven’t already.

Thanks so much for coming by!

Thanks for the heads up on the two sites above that were hacked. I’m glad that I only use cash at Home Depot. I have an account at Namecheap and am going to change the password. Every time I read your current “skinny”, I always find something that I need. Thanks again.

    Hi Ana,

As usual, great skinny! What interest me the most is WordPress 4.0. Something way new and certainly bring a fresh look into my backend blogging.

    Thanks for sharing as well!

*PS By the way, how are you? Been sometime now. Hope you are in great health!

I’ve updated to 4.0 over the weekend and love the new features so far.

Doing well, Reginald; thanks for asking. How about you? Is this a new site you linked to in your comment?
