Thanks for these plug in ideas, I’m a recent convert to WP from Blogger and am still learning about all these great features so its really helpful to get pointed in the right direction.

Thanks for another great set of plugins, Ana. I guess the RT one works since I used it to RT this post.
It’s nice to see the default info already there without having to click on any buttons first.
I’ve debated whether or not to use the tweet old posts plugin. I think I’ll give it a try to since you’ve recommended it. I do find myself clicking on the tweets it generates for some of the people I follow on Twitter.

It is nice indeed, Brad and yes, try out the plugin and see how it works for you. Many people do click on it. Let me know how it goes.

Hi Ana,
These are the “last” plug-ins I need to set up on my new WP. I’ve seeing in action in many bloggers but haven’t time to settle yet.
Thanks for sharing those plugins - in my pending list of tasks soon, at least one of them, I’ll start with the Tweet Old Post.
I like this concrete and to the point posts

I don’t think there is such a thing as the “last plugin” - the list keeps growing.

Hey Ana!
Thanks for the excellent tip as usual!
I use Tweet Old Post, but my Twitter traffic has gone down lately. However, this plugin should definitely help!
Thanks for the post,
-Gabriel Johansson
When my Twitter traffic goes down, I know it’s time to add some fresh blood, Gabriel.
Humph! If only Blogger has a plugin like this!
I wonder if I could create something like this that would work for Blogger. Off to do some brainstorming now.
Sarah invites you to read: Theres No Such Thing as Competition in the Blogoshere
Move to WP, Sarah! Blogger simply doesn’t provide you with the capabilities WP does, especially self-hosted WP.
Ana
Nah! I’m a Blogger fanatic, and to be honest, I think people underrate its capabilities. Blogger has made some huge improvements over the last few years, and I already know 2011 is going to be even better.
And, it turns out that you actually can add the tweet box to Blogger.
For anyone interested, here’s a tutorial I found on how to do it: http://www.bloggerplugins.org/2010/08/add-tweet-box-to-blogger.html

Great you found it, Sarah, and thanks for sharing the link!
Ana | Traffic Generation Cafe invites you to read: Keyword Winner- Keyword Research is Back with a Vengeance
Hi Sarah! I appreciate the link as well, but it won’t work for me. Bummer! I followed all the steps, and it only shows up when I preview my blog. I’m going to have to check inkto this further. Anyone else get it to work using blogger?
Hi Amanda, what I did was this: first, I inserted the javascript code into my template. I had to do it directly above the ending head tag, otherwise it wouldn’t work. In the tutorial, it says to add the tweet box code below “”, but instead, I added it individually to my posts. This way, I can customize the text in the tweet box for each post, and even use a short URL.
Just remember that in the code for the tweet box that I put in my post, you have to change the code, “” to “”. Otherwise, the post editor doesn’t like it, and it won’t save.
Hopefully this helps.

Oh, rats! I put some code in my comment, and it didn’t show up! Sorry about that. :/
What I meant to say is that instead of putting the tweet box where the tutorial says to put it, put it directly in the post. But in the DIV element called “bp_tweetBox”, it doesn’t have an end tag, and instead uses “/>” at the end, which the Blogger post editor doesn’t like for some reason. So, replace that “/>” with the normal “>” and add an end tag.
Does that make sense?

Thanks, Sarah! I appreciate it ~ still trying to get it to work. I messed it up so bad I just took it all off and am taking a break. Perhaps when my head clears I’ll understand what I need to do. Sheesh, these things mess with my head, sometimes!

Yeah, it’s looks great Ana
Hi Ana! I’ve been trying to find out how to get that box at the end of my posts. However I’m confused. Maybe it’s the early hours now.
So I need to register here? dev.twitter.com/anywhere/apps/new
After that we have to add a code? Where?
I guess I’m the only one that can’t get it to install
Not at all, Benny - I had a bit of a hard time as well.
Yes, you register your site there. When you are done, you’ll get some codes that Twitter @Anywhere will ask for once you install it.
And then it should work!
Let me know how it goes.
Ana
Hey Ana,
I was actually curious whether there was a plugin for those retweet boxes - although I do have the individual button at the top of each post as well as another one in the floater. So I’m thinking 2 is enough for now.
As for the Tweet Old Posts plugin - I’ve been using for about 5 or 6 weeks now and I actually really like it so far
. I’m curious though - every how many hours do you have yours set for? I use to have mine set to tweet every 4 hours but recently changed it to 5. I wasn’t sure what my followers would think and I didn’t want to bombard them. Is it too spaced out you think?
The other thing that’s good to note is to make sure to exclude certain posts you don’t want tweeted - for example - current news or new product launches and things like that. It would look kinda silly if I tweeted the arrival of the first iPad today or the launch of Google Buzz lol. You know what I mean?
Thanks for the good tip about the tweet box. It’s pretty neat!
Wishing you and your family a very Happy Easter. God Bless.
Cheers Tzarina
Ingrid Abboud invites you to read: Bring IT! How Did You Find Your Blogger’s Voice
Hi, Ingrid:
I think spacing the tweets depends on how active your are on Twitter.
If you RT a lot and interact with other people, which you absolutely do, I wouldn’t be afraid to space your own tweets 3-4 hours apart.
You are so right about excluding some posts; to my shame, I haven’t taken the time to do that!
Both downloaded and should be implemented soon, thanks Ana!

Hi Ana,
I just installed the tweet old post plugin. It took me about 15 seconds to do it and I manually sent a tweet from the dashboard setting.
Very easy and simple thanks for the recommendation. I’ll try the other Twitter plugin next.
Happy Good Friday to you.

And you as well, Justin - thank you!
First off, I LOVE TweetOldPost. It’s a brilliant concept, but you’ve got to have enough content to keep it fresh, and your content has to be evergreen. Time sensitive stuff obviously won’t do.
This @Anywhere Plus looks to be really useful as well. It’s really IN YOUR FACE, but sometimes you’ve got to be that way to get people’s attention. What I like about it is that it removes a click in the whole RT process. And if you want to improve conversion, we all know that removing steps is a sure fire way to do it.
Thanks for sharing the tips.

Dan Cristo invites you to read: Will the Red Sox Win the 2011 Division
It’s been great on my blog, Dan.
Since I prefaced it with “Just read”, I see a lot of RTs with the prefix - so I know I get quite a few readers using it. I am positive my conversion rate went up since I installed this plugin.
That’s pretty good! I’d still (like you have) include the standard buttons as that is what people are used to. I don’t know why, but I my eyes always scan past those boxes embedded in posts. They almost need a background, like the one you use for Thesis to really “pop” and attract people to the tweet.

Ana, thanks for the great plugin tips!
I noticed that Tweet Old Post only posts to one Twitter account. Have you found a way to post it to multiple Twitter accounts at once or wondering if you have a clever work around?
Unfortunately, not, Chris, but I’ve been thinking of writing to the plugin author requesting to add the feature.
I’d love to have it as well.
Thanks for taking the time out to share this. I’ll have to add it to my blogs tonight. Have fun in Boston and New York!

Thanks for the tip.
