Whether you watched the last Super Bowl broadcast or not, you undoubtedly heard of the highly acclaimed $3M Google Parisian Love commercial.
No actors. No voiceover. There was only ONE PICTURE. Just words on screen, really.
Yet, in under 60 seconds the entire NFL-watching population had their hearts melted.
Awwwwww….
This is video marketing at its best.
Where does all the magic happen? On the screen? Not at all.
It’s in YOUR HEAD.
Love, romance, the Eiffel tower, the Louvre, a steaming espresso at a café, the scrumptious taste of chocolate…
None of it is on the screen, yet your imagination wraps around it and makes it so real that all you can do is say
Awwwwwww….
Telling a story is the most powerful video marketing tool in existence, making your customers fill in the gaps and yearn for whatever it is you are selling.
Let’s break down this oh so simple and oh so powerful commercial:
- Feature: Google search is simple to use.
- Advantage: Google search has the best results.
- Benefit: You can even use Google to find LOVE! (Awwww!)
One of the biggest companies in the world, running one of the most expensive ad spots, and the ad is so simple that even YOU COULD DO IT!
Don’t believe me?
Then check this out.
Some time in the last few weeks, Google and YouTube launched their (or its, I should say) new video marketing tool called the “Search Stories Video Creator“.
The tool prompts you to input up to 7 different search parameters, choose a song, and it will generate your video in the same style as other Google Search Stories (there is a whole series of these commercials; Google started releasing them last fall. See them all here.)
It’s really fun to use and takes only a few minutes; it will even do as much as upload your video to YouTube.
It goes without saying that there are plenty of parodies out there by now and I am sure there will be a lot more to come.
Here’s one purely for entertainment purposes (check out my 10 tips on how to customize YouTube embed code to see how I changed the code for this video):

Thanks, Mark, I appreciate your time and comment.
Hey Ana,
Cool video. I really enjoy video marketing, yet I don't
do it often enough.
If you are writing everyday, articles or blogging, you
should at least have a video summary.
At the end of the video you can only think, wow
that Google is really cool. LOL.
Happy Mother's Day Ana!
Tommy D.
Thanks, Tommy - video summary is a great idea, if I can ever get to it:). Plus, I am still uncertain as to how to benefit from it - time is a valuable commodity! How do you use it? Ana
