- Why does my blog make money and yours doesn’t?
Hello Ana,I have to agree, that if you want to make money (and everyone can make money, although they may not believe it) you need to focus. Don’t try to be the jack-of-all-trades but focus on one item at a time and that item should be part of a bigger plan that makes you money.
You can burn all your day, writing one post, but if that post doesn’t bring you 1 cent then you should really try to do something about it. Try to get more guest posters, or try to write your articles faster in order to focus on the actives which are most likely to bring the money.
- Friday Tips for Keeps: How I Made Post Publishing Mistake and Why You Never Will
Wow Ana, this is a really cool one, I can imagine using this plugin for my niche website. I can practically schedule a post every week, for a whole year on precise intervals. Usually I published around 10 posts. Two immediately and the others I scheduled and just choose some random dates. But, I think you should take a break if you are so busy, try to see what’s draining all the time from your days and maybe take a week long vacation and come back with a cleared mind.
Have superb week-end Ana!
- Traffic Generation Blogging Contest – How I Got Over 400 Comments on My Entry
Hello Mavis,We can definitely see the power of social right here. If you have enough friends and people to whom you can say your request then you will most likely get a response and the biggest power you can have is influence. If people think that you are a trend setter then it’s easy to ask them for a favor.
Also, like you mentioned one of the methods that don’t need any beforehand preparation is to ask someone to help in exchange for a favor (just like some commenting tribes work).
You did very well and I wish you good luck, tomorrow the results are out

- SEO Content Writing: How to Write a Title Pleaser That Ranks Well Too
Hello Ana,Let me get this right, you first use a visitor title, that will draw the social traffic from twitter, facebook etc, then when the posts stops being shared or read you optimize it for the search engines?
Now, I know that having your post on top of the results in google will most likely outweigh those that will search for your post via the old title, but what do you think it will happen with the rankings for the old title? Maybe you are number one for your visitor oriented keywords, do you still change it?
I also know that google doesn’t like often title changes, but I suppose this will only be a one time business so, no penalty for that.
- How Many Unindexed Posts Does Your Blog Have?
Actually, it was a pretty bad investment because since I bought it I hardly used it, except to check other linkbuilding campaigns, the see what links got indexed and to ping some urls. The rest of the time it’s collecting virtual dust on my desktop

Ana,
Thanks for the speed tips. I will be sending others to this post.
I have to agree that reader experience is the most important.
I have super cash on, but I will be checking out W3 Total Cash and smush.it.

Hi Ana,
I’ve use most of these and they really have made a difference. W3 Total Cache unfortunately breaks my site, so I’ve used W3 Super Cache which I think works just as good.
cSprites seems interesting…haven’t heard of that one. Will have to give it a try since I include a lot of images on my site. Will look into doing it manually though as I have sooo many plugins already. =)
Thanks for sharing this list! Ciao!

I know what you are saying about using too many plugins, Michele. Time to lighten up the load?
I personally use Smush.it on my site; easy and works great.
Thanks for coming by!
Ana
Great post, thanks. Site speed is being used in Google rankings now, which is why this is all the more important.
How many of these plugins overlap in their functions? I don’t use W3 Total Cache yet, but doesn’t it also do minifying? How about smushing?
You are very right; many of these plugins overlap in their functions.
W3 Total Cache does do minifying, but not smushing.
Ana
Ana,
As I said in my last post, I use w3-total-cache and it shaved off a few seconds of my load speed.
I also use smush.it.
cSprites is a new one for me and I shall investigate.
Re: backups.
I use BackupBuddy - it backs up my whole blog not just the databases.

Wow Ana,
That’s quite a list for site speed. I shall call you the Queen of Site Speed
Very helpful list here. Now time to see what it can do especially Minify and cSprites.
Hi Ana thanks for sharing all these speed boosting tweaks. I have been steadily working towards speeding my blog up.
I know there is a lot you can do , sometimes though it comes down to hosting. I use several different hosting companies, I have noticed a huge different in performance just by switching hosting services.
I have noticed that sometimes you have to be careful with plugins because not all of them play well with each other.
Thanks for sharing!

Hello Larry,
Yes you have a point there. We need to check the plugins first before using it and make sure that they can work well together.
All the best,

Hi Ana,
Great list of plugins. I’ve been using w3 total cache on my site and things are running faster. I also used many of the tips that you gave in your last post about site speed and my blog is loading much faster now.
Do you recommend running more than one of these plugins at a time? For instance w3 total cache and minify together?

Hi Ana
After your last post I started thinking on how to make things load faster. Wp Total Cache works wonders. Makes moving to Amazon S3 Cloud a simple matter and makes all your css and scripts available form there. One problem I can’t get past is images not showing up in my posts when I switch.
If any of your readers know how to overcome this I would really appreciate some advice.
Thanks for the run down on the plugins.

I personally have no idea, Dennis.
Sounds like you are sure that it’s WP Total Cache that is the problem.
We’ll see if someone reads your comment and knows the answer.
Ana
Very cool list, Ana - I actually have WP Touch on my list of apps to try. Are you running it, here?
Hate to admit it, but haven’t gotten to it yet, Roy; it’s on my list as well.
I definitely need to hurry up and install it though; I tried my blog on my phone and it was painful.
Ana
Great share Ana! Yep site speed matters now - not a whole lot, but it’d be neat for both your readers and search engines if your site loads as fast as it possibly can.

Definitely, Sean.
My primary concern would be my readers - the fact that my ranking might benefit from it is the icing on the cake.
Thanks for coming by!
Ana
Yep it’s definitely just icing on the cake
I plan to get more involved here in your blog - especially since I’m planning to guest post here every once in a while (once a week would be ideal)
Cooking up another one tonight for ‘ya
Thanks Ana!
