  Thanks for the great “how to” on improving your google rankings.

  Right now I just do the seo basics for my blog and it shows in the percentage of search traffic I receive, which is low

  The major reason is that I have not been going after specific search terms but rather targeting social media, which was phase one of my plan.

  Those are two great tools you are using. I have a tool similar to Market Samurai but not one similar to Scribe.

  I am going to seriously look at Scribe this weekend, so thanks for the recommendation.

  Interesting that most were not looking to make money at first.

  What were they looking for -> to create good content

  And in many cases they created their own niche, which can come from creating good content (except in Perez Hilton’s case which is similiar to why people stop at accidents)

  All of them are making money not because of unique ways to make money but because they have the traffic to support traditional ways to make money from blogging; ads, banners, adsense, insider clubs etc etc.

  Their uniqueness comes from their content which creates loyal fans.

  So I guess I am agreeing with Marcus

  Will GI hurt the really long long-tail keywords, probably, especially if it causes the user to stop typing and accept results not based on that long-tail keyword.

  But then again you would expect that happening already with Google’s auto-suggest, at least to some degree.

  But the big picture is this, if GI does affect what keywords people use in the searches it does not make SEO dead, just makes it more interesting and competitive

  When I first started there were a lot of Peter Fuller’s out there so I decided to brand Peter Fuller MBA to differentiate myself. Everything I did , from the blog to posting comments I tried to reinforce “Peter Fuller MBA”

  As a result of that I now rank for “Peter Fuller” as well.

  As for linking your personal brand with a company I am not so sure of. My personal blog “PeterFuller.org” is my blog to brand myself. I would use another blog or website to brand myself with a company.

  Page rank is important if most of one’s traffic is coming from search engines and you are competing for coveted search terms.

  Since most of my traffic comes from social media and I look for search terms with little competition then I am less concerned with page rank.

  When people get obsessed with page rank they start to do bad things, like comment spam.

  So it is no mystery to me, unlike what dress I am suppose to wear out, I thought a nice shirt and pants would do
