- How To Determine Your Blog Weak Spots And How To Correct Them
Firstly hello, I just found your blog and from looking around it looks really ace! This is a really good blog post. And even though I don’t write blogs, I write a lot of other things (essays and papers etc) so I’ll take the tips you’ve written and try and apply them in my work in the future!
- New Tweet Button: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly
I’m undecided on whether or not this is a good thing, I can see the perks for the blog owner but as someone who uses Twitter, having things like this pop up all the time can be both useful and annoying!

I used to read his blog often but haven’t been in awhile cause I’m more of a TMZ guy now.
But 10 mil views a day is unreal!! I remember seeing his ad rates a long time ago and they were in the thousands for just a week. I’m sure it’s ridiculous now.
But he did find his passion. Before he wrote all the content himself. That’s a lot of work per day. I wonder if he has some help with all that money he’s making now.

Welcome back, Benny!
That serious traffic.
Yea thats the route im taking at the moment, going to start talking about my passion
Words come easier that way..

That is some serious traffic … pretty mind-blowing. Reminds me of the guy who started Plenty of Fish and was quickly make 6 figures per month with Adsense simply because he was generating billions (with a “b”) of hits per month — BIG audience.
I think any one who is willing to be “non-pc” will do well attracting attention to themselves, which you pointed out. Look at what Trump does all the time - he’s also a master at it. Some people are very good at attention mongering, and Perez definitely fits the bill. Thanks for a great post with an unexpected twist.
Best,

Perez Hilton? Bill Maher? No, thank you. I understand that this is a traffic generation blog, Goran; however, I’d rather have no traffic than be like either of them. Passion, consistency, and not being afraid to experiment are great qualities shared by the best bloggers. I’m not sure that being like Bill Maher, being selfish, or trying to compete against huge competitors for large audiences is going to help the average blogger gain much traffic. Even if it did, it’d be too high a price for me to pay. Interesting read, though.

Well I never said you should be like Bill Maher, I’m just giving you an example of what works in today’s society. However you have to admit that these guys are consistent, passionate and not afraid to experiment. That’s why they get under peoples skin. BTW I love Bill Maher, not afraid to speak his mind.
This can be applied to any niche, large or small, and as I pointed out at the end of the post, take out what you don’t like and use the rest. It will surely help you in some way.
i also got a question about your blog. what plugin are you using for “More Great Posts on the Topic”? i tried one plugin but it does not show any post or it shows one same post all the time. I do not understand the problem.
Lorie Letschert invites you to read: Become Successful- Overcome Your Fear
If it shows one post all the time, it is probably because there is only one post on that particular topic. Perhaps if you tried another post and see if it still happens?
these are great tips. i am checking my traffic to my websites and i can see that it is decreasing everyday when i do not post something so yes you are right, we should have daily posts on our blogs.
Lorie Letschert invites you to read: Become Successful- Overcome Your Fear
Yes, that’s correct. To make it easier, you can use a scheduler. When the inspiration grabs you one day, you can write a bunch of posts and schedule them for every other day, etc. until you have momentum.
Very interesting post and the numbers are staggering. I’m pretty sure he is a early bird to that niche and once you establish yourself in such a niche it is very hard to compete against them because they generate traffic from sheer brand power. I’m much more interested in niche blogging, not much competition and nice steady income.

LOL .. “BE PROVOCATIVE”
i guess i cant really make up with that one.. i’m always afraid that my readers could go away from me just because of my characteristic. Well, he is Matt Cutts anyway and there’s nothing I can do about it..

Hey Goran,
What an interesting post. So true, there are different things that attract readers to different sites. And as you have shown, Perez Hilton does know how to attract millions of people to him every single day!
Thanks for sharing these great blogging strategies.
All the best,

Hi Goran,
Great points and I love them. It’s very important that you choose perfect niche for yourself so that you can put 101% effort to make it successful.
Usually a newbie choose a niche which is very popular and he/she thinks start getting huge traffic but it’s not happen that way as he/she doesn’t have much passion for that niche. So it’s very important to have a niche which is really thrilled you.

Wow, I nearly fell off my seat when I read the introduction. But you have a great point. 10 million per day. I wouldn’t mind 0.1% of that traffic,
However, I do Believe that it has a lot to do with the niche that he is in, and the topics he rights aboout.
Yes he got in at the right time. But peopele just love gossip, and there is none better than celeraty gossip.

Hi Robert,
I see you are just one of a few people saying that Perez is so popular because of the niche, or because he was an early bird and what not, which is all true, but that is not the point of the article.
The article analyzes what he does and his work can be applied to any other niche. Is your niche about hair product going to take off, probably not, but it could give you an advantage over your competition and place your link higher in the SERPS as the result of that.
Goran invites you to read: Visual Guide to Keyword Research
Absolutly I understand the point of the article. But I wouldn’t think that those points apply to Perez as a good blogger.
Is he passonate about Gossip, who knows. I don’t think so, I thnk he is just coinning the money.
Does it have a large audience, yes
Is he politically correct, well can you be politically correct in a gossip niche
Selfesh, to me thats a no no, I’m a firm believer of helping others.
I think the sign of a King Blogger is one who can make it in many other niches, and especially in niches that are far apart.
Perez I don’t think can.
THats my though anyway.
Robert Bravery invites you to read: SEO Is A Fallacy
Oh I absolutely believe he is passionate about gossip, majority of the young people are but money surely plays a role in his passion as well there is no question about that.
Who would you categorize as a king of blogging? Matt Cutts? Can Matt Cutts succeed with gossip blog? I don’t think so. Matt Cutts is only known within SEO community, no one else knows who he is. You can hear about Perez on TV daily and even people who are not into gossip know who he is; that tells me he made a hell of a blog.
Perez has blogs about other niches and thanks to his popularity those blogs are doing better than mine and yours combined. So yes, he should be recognized as a great blogger and I can’t find another blogger that is as successful as him, no matter which niche we are talking about.
Few folks has something special that attract people to their web site. Initially, have to find a crispy topic to the site, it’s one of the great paths to get large audience to the site. It’s really useful Goran
While all points are valid and well thought out, I think you’re giving the man way too much credit.
If I were to bet on it, I’d put all my money on the fact that he is the way he is because that’s just him…not due to some marketing mastermind genius or anything.
Not to mention timing. Similar to why the A-list is what it is. Some because they are good bloggers and largely also because they got in early and stuck to it.

Hi Dennis,
give credit where credit is due no matter how lucky someone is or how much you dislike him. The man made an empire out of a single site, I think that deserves respect.
Is it the timing, the way he is and all that? Sure, but he still stuck with it and created something that only a very few can.
10 million views a day..!! Nope I am not there yet

I guess I still have a lot to learn about blogging. Maybe I should sneek into perezhilton.com and see if I can learn some.

As much as I’m not a huge fan of celebrity gossip you have made many valid points in this article! Everything you said hits home for me and to be honest I find it’s why I’ve been so successful with blog engage. I love blogging, I love bloggers and I love meeting new people. My love for all these aspects has allowed me to manage and maintain a positive growth of readers and article submitters.
Very interesting article Goran I’m pleasantly impressed! I’ll be honest when I read your first paragraph or two I was like… omg this guys thinks Perez Hilton is the best blogger haha! But your right there is a lot to learn from him like him or not! Great article!
@Kristi I’m giggling inside right now knowing you read that junk!

I agree with Ana your approach is very interesting. I think you have to have a good balance though. It’s a fine line between getting people talking and totally pissing them off.
A. Tatum Jr. invites you to read: Cloudty Lets You Report the Weather
There is definitelly a fine line between the two, thats why we should thank Ana for making a couple of small corrections that could have sent this article in the direction that you are talking about.
I admit it… one of my guilty pleasures every day is to sneak off to the world of celebrity gossip on Perez Hilton so I can read about things that will otherwise do me little to no good to know about. But I must admit, he does a great job of mixing things up - lots of great images, videos, long posts, short posts, subject variety, etc.
Other things he does a great job with - internal linking to related posts and categories, throwing in mentions to follow him on Twitter, and even linking to his other properties (fitness and pet blog) when it works. Definitely a good example to follow for some great blogging strategies.

Channeling Machievelli today, are we?! I am sure you are 100% correct and this was an interesting read. Nice one Goran!
I’ve been working on giving my posts more of the “jeans and sweatshirt” feel so my readers don’t feel like they’re visiting a marketing blog. But I never thought of Paris Hilton as a role model until now.
Thanks

Thanks Ken,
sometimes the best advice comes from the people you least expect. And when it comes to “jeans and sweatshirt” I’ve started doing that myself. It’s just more fun to write and to read as well.

I found your approach to the post very interesting, Goran. Perez Hilton? Definitely, unexpected.
I am not a big proponent of big mouths, yet you are right, there’s always something to learn from their successes.
Being yourself is a biggy for me - speaking your mind vs trying to “serve” your readership the way you THINK they’d like to be served. The latter definitely doesn’t work; a fake is called out very quickly.
So, thanks for reminding me to be myself!
Ana

Thanks Ana,
faking will get you to a certain point in life but will eventually catch up with you so it is important to be yourself in order to succeed in any business, online or in life in general.
Another thing that I forgot to mention in the article is to stay positive and believe in yourself as Harriet said. This is probably the most important factor of success.
So the bottom line is, be yourself, stay positive and keep working on it.
