Attraction Marketing on Leadership: How To Become Irresistibly Attractive To Your Prospects

September 13, 2009

The leadership instinct you are born with is the backbone. You develop the funny bone and the wishbone that go with it.
Elaine Agather

The only people who make it big in home business industry (or any entrepreneurial field) are leaders. Period.

Sounds good, but… how do you become one? What makes a person attractive to others? Why do people flock to certain personalities? Why do women find some men completely irresistible even if they are jerks? (I am sure you, guys, would like an answer to that one.)

Since leadership is a cornerstone principal of any Attraction Marketing blueprint, it commands us to study it a bit to make sure we get off on the right foot with the whole “let’s build our business on attraction marketing principles” idea.

Attraction Marketing Blueprint: What Defines a Leader?

The answer to the question lies in the basic human psychology; so that’s where we will start.

You see, attraction is not really a choice; it’s more of an instinct. If you put ten men and women in the same room and give them a project, within a couple of minutes a leader will emerge that the others will actually follow.

Leaders command respect without asking for it, they speak with authority, they are confident, not concerned with outside criticism, goal-oriented, and do not fold under pressure.

The core value of a leader is expressed through a multitude of traits such as being business-minded, well educated (and I am not talking about formal education here), impeccably handling yourself socially, being financially well off.

We instinctively flock to such people, hoping that some of the value that they offer will somehow rub off on us and we will be perceived as having the same qualities by mere association.

Attraction Marketing Blueprint: Where Are You At?

There are basically three groups of people in life: those who lead, those who follow, and one more group in the between those two: leaders in training - people who feel that they do not want to follow any longer, but not quite ready to take over a leadership role.

So, which group are you in?

Believe is or not, YOU are the one to determine which group you are in. It’s your state of mind that dictates it. Society will either agree with your own estimation or call your bluff.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I am not talking about faking it even if you do not have it in you. You cannot fake your belief about yourself. You either have it or you don’t.

Belief always comes before results.

Attraction Marketing Blueprint: How Do You Become a Leader?

If you find yourself stuck in the follower group, don’t despair. Here are two things that you can DO TODAY to change that (why wait till tomorrow to do what can be done today?):

1. Start taking initiative in increasing your value to others through education. In short, start reading. I’ll have some suggestions where to start at the bottom of the post.

2. Surround yourself with people who you want to be like and start emulating them. “I can tell who you are by the kind of company you keep.” – I am sure you heard that before. Great statement? You bet!

That’s what we call personal development.

Attraction Marketing Blueprint: Are You Cut Out For The Work?

Here is what Mike Dillard writes on the topic in his highly-acclaimed “Magnetic Sponsoring” book: “I make more money than you because I work 10 times harder than you, I sacrificed 10 times longer than you, and I invested 10 times more than you in my education.” That’s his secret, folks.

So, if you want to sponsor people effortlessly (and if you don’t, what are you doing in this business to begin with), your goal is to become a leader, an Alpha that everybody wants to be associated with.

If you struggle with bringing people to your business, it’s because you don’t exhibit enough value yet.

If someone wants to join you, it’s because they want to acquire some of the same authority that you have by association.

If you don’t provide anything that will increase their personal value, they will not join you, but find someone that does.

Remember what Mike Dillard said?

Your education and increasing your value to the word never stops. If you are willing to do what it takes, you will be way ahead of the other 98% of the struggling network marketers out there, virtually insuring no competition and well-deserved success.

I highly recommend starting your education with picking up Mike Dillard’s “Magnetic Sponsoring”. What you will learn in that book goes beyond succeeding as an entrepreneur; it will show you how to become successful YOU.

It's amazing how many people expect to become a leader but don't expect to put in the work. Great post. I highly recommend Mike Dillard too.

Mike Dillard was the first one to open my eyes to the world of marketing. Before I read his stuff, I thought buying leads was the best way to go. All I did though was went broke. Attraction marketing is the cornerstone of any successful business.

The company you keep is truly invaluable. There are cliches all over the place about this. I read Tim Ferris said, "Surround yourself with people smarter than you if you want to succeed" seems to make sense. A little easier said than done, but a great starting point. If you truly believe in your abilities it will show. Often I see people able to lead in certain settings and follow in others. It when a person feels exceptional knowledge about something that they begin to resonate leadership. So as you said…read something!

It's always easier to be pulled down than push yourself up. That's exactly what wrong/wright association will do to us. It's our choice entirely.

Great thoughts, Danon - thanks for stopping by.
