5 Tricks To Optimizing Your Article Marketing: Do It Or Don’t Waste Your Time

by · 7 comments

Writing articles is like shooting arrows in the forest: the denser the forest, the better chance you hit a tree.

Thus, the more articles you write, the more targeted free leads you get for your business – the law of attraction marketing is the name of the game here.

Article marketing has three simple purposes:

1. To rank by the search engines for the keywords you specify.

2. To position yourself as an authority on the subject.

3. To redirect your potential leads to your lead capture page and plug them into your marketing funnel.

Now, we all heard of SEO, page rankings, keywords…

Sounds all good in theory. It’s bringing it all together and getting it to work for you is the tricky part.

Stating the obvious: don’t wear out your computer keyboard writing articles until you figure out how to convert your visitors into leads. Start with a goodlead capture page. So let’s talk about how to hit the tree every time.

When optimizing your articles for search engines, here are some basic law of attraction marketing rules to follow:

1. Always use your keyword in the title (I recommend picking one keyword or keyphrase per article).

2. Use the keyword several times in the body of your article, but no more than 3 times per “scroll” of your screen.

3. BOLD, ITALIC, and UNDERLINE the keyword at least two or three times.

4. Use the keyword in the first and last few lines of the body.

5. Use the keyword as your anchor text linking it back to your web site.

Obviously, picking the right keyword will be your biggest challenge.

Don’t try to target keywords that have millions of searches. Target ones that have maybe 600K to 1 million searches at most. The fewer, the better.

Word of caution: Don’t overuse your keywords or underline them one too many times; this can potentially hurt your search engine optimization and actually turn away your prospects.

Remember, your main goal should be to write for an audience, not search engines.

The law of attraction marketing is a tricky thing; used properly it will do wonders for your business. However, being the real McCoy is what counts here. Remember that when creating content such as articles.

Hi Ana — it's nice to 'meet' and connect with you! I loved your article and fully agree with everything you said. One thing that I didn't see, that's very important, is to have the article proofread and/or edited by a professional. So many (a very high percentage) articles have errors in them and part of article marketing is to get others to post your articles on their websites, blogs, etc. but if there are errors, why would anyone want to use them? Professional proofreaders aren't nearly as expensive as people might think and once you start using one for all your articles, marketing material, website, etc., they will usually give you a break on pricing. Hope that helps!

Love what you added to the title…”do it or don’t waste your time”.

Most people don’t get the benefits of Article Marketing and how it relates to SEO. Great job in your explanation.
