Don’t have the time to read all the marketing news, blog posts, announcements, and other content related to SEO/social media/online marketing published each week?
I’ve got you covered.
I sift through trillions (well, hundreds) of online publications to stay on top of marketing news that might affect your online business.
And I package them neatly in bite-sized chunks in my Weekly Marketing Skinnies right here at Traffic Generation Café every Saturday morning.
Between you and me, I have no idea why I bother investing hours of my time weekly reading all these marketing news just to boil them down for you in my Weekly Marketing Skinnies, other than the fact that I know you don’t have the time to keep up with the fast-paced marketing industry on your own, yet you DO need to be in-the-know to remain competitive.
Plus, your enthusiastic comments and social media shares show me just how much you truly appreciate being kept in the marketing loop in just a few minutes per week.
THANK YOU.
Now grab your cup of coffee and let’s catch up on the marketing news that matter to your business.
At TrafficGenerationCafe.com
Many of you know I took a long trip to visit my family in Russia.
The trip went well, but the aftermath is still catching up with me: my body is having a very hard time getting back into the right time zone and my mind is having a hard time getting back to work.
Nonetheless, I am working through it and have a few exciting projects I’ll be working on in the next few weeks.
That’s it for a quick personal update; now back to the marketing news of the week.
Search
Impressive and interesting: Documenting 260+ Google Ranking Factors? These folks gave it a shot…
Google now has a new logo and branding.
Google to offer search information on more than 900 diseases, plus downloadable PDFs. (apparently, your doctor might ask for it at your next appointment…)
Google has made changes to Search and Now cards to help you more easily find what you need — by simply swiping and tapping.
Social Media
Good news for your FB photos: Facebook’s Photo Uploader on desktop adds features that were mobile-only (filters, stickers, etc.)
The new LinkedIn Messaging looks less like email and more like chat.
Speaking of improving Messaging: Instagram Direct Messaging gets significant updates as well (threaded messages, etc.)
Good news for Google+ on iOS: Google+ Collections finally available on iOS.
On a Side Note…

Marketing This & That
New Google Drive features: you can now write Google Docs with your voice, research and add content to a document right from Google Docs (on Android only), Explore in Google Sheets.
Google launched Street View on Google Maps as a standalone app. Best part? You can create and publish photo spheres of your favorite places from around the world - all with your phone!
Cortana can now translate words, phrases, and sentences in almost 40 languages. Very handy for Windows 10 users.
PayPal debuted an easier way to send (or request) a payment - PayPal.Me. Tried it - much easier and faster indeed.
Thank You
To all of you who mentioned Traffic Generation Café in any shape or form in the past week, my whole-hearted THANK YOU.

Hi Ana,
How wonderful that you were able to visit your family!
Thank you for another great marketing roundup. I do look forward to your posts and appreciate all you do. Thank you! I do realize that this post is about 3 weeks old, but I wanted to actually leave a comment this time
I’ve included you in my Monthly Marketing Gold and would love for you to stop by.
Your comment is much appreciated, Robin - however old the post is. And so glad you made it into my new Weekly Marketing Skinny (and onto my radar. 😉 )
Hi Ana,
Great Skinny, as always.
I just discovered PayPal.me today… definitely need to give it a closer look.
Chat soon,
Brent
Thanks for coming by, Brent.
Great insights this week Ana! Thanks for all the hard work you do and especially for including me in your Weekly Skinny this week.
Welcome home. I hope you catch your wind and I’m looking forward to your fantastic, upcoming content.
Also, I did include this post in my blog post today!
Have an awesome week Ana!
~ Don Purdum
…still catching up. 😉
Thanks for coming by, Don, and always honored to be mentioned on your blog.
Carlos
Do you know how to reach Mauro d’Andrea by email? I wanted to talk to him about his Slide Share program but he seems to be inactive on the internet lately.
Thanks.
Carlos
I emailed him, Carlos, and forwarded him your email address (hope it’s OK with you) - hopefully, he’s around and will be able to get back with you.
Carlos
Hi Ana:
Thanks for helping me find Mauro. He has contacted me. I truly appreciate your kind assistance.
Years ago, you referred to Mauro in terms of being a Slide Share master. I subsequently purchased his training program. As you had described, it was a highly informative and insightful course.
But other than your reference to Mauro, I would never have known about his expertise.
This is only one reason I’m a regular follower of your Traffic Generation Cafe postings.
Sincerely,
Carlos
So glad I could help, Carlos, and thank you - honored by your compliment.
By the time I finished reading this and sharing it across my few social networks, your total shares had already gone from 3 to 42! And no, I am not a slow reader. 😀
You picked up quite a few great stories this week, for sure. I didn’t see any mention that Facebook will be redoing our timeline photos yet again, though. Did you see that story this week, as well?
It’s not much of a tweak, but our profile pics will be much smaller. Let me know if would like me to send you a link for more info.
Thanks for reading and sharing, Bradley!
There are two reasons I might not share a piece of news: 1) it’s a test and no one cares unless it rolls out sitewide or 2) I did miss it.
Feel free to forward me a link to any news piece that you don’t see in my Skinnies, but feel should be there. It takes a village!
Bigwas
I received this weekly marketing skinny in my inbox today. I do not know how to inform you except in this forum. The links are not working and I have to copy paste the link into my browser. Kindly check it please. I am using thunderbird as my email client. Thanks.
Sorry about that, Bigwas - I haven’t heard of such a problem in the past.
Thanks for taking your time to let me know and to copy/paste links. Shoudl you encounter the problem in the future, feel free to just respond to the email I send out.
