Crazy ideas… Don’t you just love those?
When it comes down to online marketing, even the craziest idea is worth split testing - it might just turn out to be your best converting one.
Here is a great example of one such idea…
I recently learned about a very unique opt-in form build by Jeremy Keith for his audio sharing site, Huffduffer.
It asked all the questions a typical opt-in form would: name, email, etc, but it did it in a narrative format, Mad Lib-style.
The form operates in exact same way any opt-in form would: you can click on each field or tab between them, it manages errors the same way a standard form would.
However, you have to agree: Jeremy’s form looks nothing but standard.
Personally, I have not tested this form yet, but someone else did and the results are definitely head-turning.
The Mad Lib form increased conversions across the board by 25-40%.
25-40%!
This “crazy” idea goes to show that we should split-test everything we do, because we never know until we put it to the test.
So, what’s the point?
Don’t settle for the same predictable or maybe even mediocre results you’ve been getting for the past 3 years.
Open your business to split-testing and the results just might amaze you.
Remember, the success of your business does not come from how much traffic you drive to your website, but from how well you convert that traffic into paying customers.

You are right: you don’t have to comment or retweet, but would it help if I told you it would be much appreciated?

Absolutely amazing stuff Ana, thanks for sharing this nugget! I don’t know if I’m going to be able to sleep tonight - trying to figure out how to change my form!

I know, Michael, that's what I did when I first learned about this trick. I love online marketing!
Wonderful post Ana. Split testing is a concept that many marketers overlook in their business despite the obvious benefits. A great reminder to all.
Thanks, Karen. Tracking and split-testing (or lack thereof, I should say) are responsible for leaving a lot of money at the table.
I would have never thought of the Mad Libs form but it does put a whole new spin on things. I have not done any split testing as I have not looked into learning how to to it yet. Remember the old saying "How do you eat an Elephant" "One bite at a time". Thank you for the idea and information! Great post as always
I live by Elephant philosophy - that's the only way to survive! One more thing I heard lately and loved "Do first things first, and second things never."
You'll get to it some day, Robert, and so will I
.
Hi Ana,
Hmmm, that's very interesting. Have never seen anything like this. I wonder if you could use that on Aweber as well?
To your success,

Yes, Ilka, you can do it with AWeber; however the form has to be designed separately and then connected to AWeber.
Interesting post Ana,
You always finding something that is going to keep us busy, well I guess I needed so will not get my self it to trouble.
Would love to hear your own results also, NO rush-take your time…
Respect,
Slavik G.
Hey, Slavik - I am working on overall overhaul
of the blog; optin form will definitely be one of those changes, although I am not sure yet if I go Mad Lib way.
Hey Ana,
This is pretty cool. I never thought of doing something like
this but if it works, why not try it, right?
Thanks for sharing this ideas.
Have a great night!
Tommy D.
I am with you, Tommy - it’s been tested, it works; what do we have to loose by trying it?
Thanks for coming by!
Great tip Ana.
I must confess I get a bit lazy about coming with creative ideas for the things we do every day. I have a seen a few different capture form techniques, and now you have given me the kick in the pants to come up with something of my own
Or - don’t reinvent the wheel and use somebody else’s idea:). I am all for working smarter.
