There is no secret that every webmaster’s dream is to increase traffic generation Google search engine ranking.
However, with billions of websites out there competing for all kinds of high traffic keywords, accomplishing the feat is no easy task.
So how do you go about it?
There are many theories out there about what Google search engine ranking traffic techniques you should, must, absolutely can’t do, etc. In truth, nobody knows for sure.
So I’ll go with the majority consensus on most topics and present a sensible strategy for generating traffic to your website by improving your Google search engine ranking.
Start with the basics:
What determines which page goes to the top of Google search engine ranking?
Once again, nobody knows for sure: all the search engines use their own algorithms to rank sites.
Their objective is to deliver highly relevant and timely content to the searchers and wade off an army of SEO experts trying to manipulate that search engine ranking for their clients’ traffic generation benefit at the same time.
There are two methods to get the top search engine rankings: “White Hat” and “Black Hat”.
White Hat search engine ranking strategies are meant to work WITH the search engines by providing the readers with quality information.
Black Hat strategies are geared toward finding various LOOPHOLES in the search engine ranking algorithms and sneaking the websites to the top that way.
As a short-term strategy, these tactics might work until one of the PhD’s at Google figures out what’s going on, takes down that loophole and the website with it.
Here are some proven search engine ranking traffic generation strategies that stood the test of time and logic:
Search Engine Ranking Strategy #1:
Quality content, and lots of it.
Gone are the days when you could just stuff a website with keywords galore hoping to win the search engines’ favor. Now SE’s have means of determining what a website is about beyond merely looking at keywords – this process is called “latent semantic indexing”.
Search Engine Traffic Generation Strategy #2:
Links to your site.
Generally, the more the better.
But not all links are created equal.
- You get more credit for links from websites relevant to your theme (baseball site to baseball site vs. baseball to automotive site), high PR (page rank) sites, older sites that have been around a while.
- On the other hand, links coming from “bad neighborhoods”, like link farms, Free-For-All pages (FFA), and such.
- Old sites - i.e. that have been around for a long time are worth more than new ones - in general your PR will rise with time, other factors being equal.
Search Engine Ranking Strategy #3:
Links OUT to authority sites are also important.
However don’t have too many. While you are not penalized for any bad links coming in, you can be penalized if you link out to bad neighborhoods.
Search Engine Traffic Generation Strategy #4:
The keywords: your goal should be to get ranked for longer-tail, more specific keywords.
For instance, if you are in the weight-loss industry, don’t go for “loose weight” – there is too much competition and the chances are your website will just get buried.
Why not try “weight loss for teenagers” first? It’s more specific and you’ll have a better shot of ranking higher and generating more traffic.
Search Engine Ranking Strategy #5:
Unique content.
Duplicate content use is a huge issue! Nobody (especially SE’s) wants to see hundreds of pages of the same thing on your site!
(SIDE NOTE: I am talking about duplicated content on YOUR SITE here, not things like article syndication, which is an entirely different issue and not as big of a deal as some make it to be).
Don’t just use the same article everyone else is using.
If you got an idea for an article from another site, by all means use it – but just the idea, not the article. Make it your own before you publish it anywhere with your name on it. That applies both to your own site, and also to the pages that are linking to you.
Well, folks, that’s enough for today.

I'm new to these SEO stuff and your article is very informative, Thanks.
SEO is one of the most profit-pulling strategy there is, but there is certainly a steep learning curve for most. Don't be discouraged though, you'll get the hang of it.
Feel free to shoot me a question if you need help.
Ana
