SEO copywriting has traditionally been about optimizing web page copy by targeting keyword phrases in certain frequencies and densities.
And yet search engine research shows that almost 85% of the total factors that determine how a web page is ranked in a search engine is based on things that happen off the page itself.
While keyword research is still crucial, search engine algorithms have evolved.
Google treats the trust and authority of your domain, what others think about your content, and the words they use to describe it in links as an important indication of quality and relevance.
Thanks to blogging and social media platforms, more people than ever are able to cast their vote on what’s relevant by linking to it, bookmarking it, and tweeting it.
Modern SEO is all about crafting content so compelling that other people want to promote it by linking to it or sharing it, which increases your trust and authority and helps the pages you want to rank well for certain keywords.

Hope to see you again,

when you say you have to Spoon Feed Search Engines - does this mean bookmarking and tweeting? Thanks Grant
Corporate Photographer invites you to read: Corporate Photographer
Not exactly, Grant.
What Brian Clark refers to here is the fact that we need to make sure to “tell” search engines what to “think” of our site in terms of on-page keywords, tags, as well as incoming and internal links.
It’s better explained in the report itself as you can imagine.
Ana
I’ve noticed that some writers tend to stuff so many keywords on their articles. Personally, as a reader, I lose my interest reading this way of writing. Just imagine, you’ll only read similar words right after one sentence. LOL So, performing SEO copywriting in a right way is really a must. Otherwise, it might not be appealing to the readers. Btw, thanks for sharing the free report!

Hello Mike,
I’m with you, it is indeed so tiring to read post that uses too many keywords, it is so obvious that they are only writing for the search engine and not for the readers.
I’m glad you appreciate this post.
Ana
What actually pisses me off is an article that has keywords which make the whole sentence grammatically incorrect. How could you fully understand that stuff right? Well, that’s their way in order to drive traffic in their sites.

I understand your point Mike. I don’t see the their point either. If we used keywords we need to make sure that it perfectly fits the sentence and is appropriate to use.
Thanks for coming,
Ana
Hey Ana, your site is a veritable mine of info and I’m loving all those free reports. It’s great for people like us who are clueless about SEO. I hope you’ll come up with a report on how to optimize your site to convert into sales ( I’m asking too much, I think.. )

Thanks, Aaron.
It’s actually a great idea about a traffic conversion report - what’s the point of driving traffic if you can’t convert it?
Glad to see you on my blog and see you back soon!
Ana
Thanks for the post Ana. I tend to write out my articles first and then do my seo in editing so that I can ensure that I’m concentrating on writing for people and not just search engines.

Hey Ana,
thanks for mentioning it. I haven’t read it yet. I am actually glad that it’s free and that it doesn’t require you to sign up in order to get the ebook.
But is it really true that “85% of the total factors that determine how a web page is ranked in a search engine is based on things that happen off the page itself.” I mean I understand that off-page is important but on-page SEO is very important too. I have several sites that are ranking on the first page in Google without any backlinks at all.
Julius invites you to read: My Blog Report – September 2010
I agree that on-page factors can still push you up on Google for not too competitive keywords.
However, off-page is still where the money is most of the times.
Let me know what you think of the report, Julius; would love to have your opinion.

Great - thanks for the tip, Ana - he’s pretty funny (mostly) to follow on Twitter, too. Reminds me of Mark Twain at times.
I laugh when I shouldn’t. :/
Will have to download that report - much thanks for sharing the info!

Mark Twain? Interesting analogy. Did you tell him that?
It’s much more fun to laugh with someone by your side.

Great info Ana, and thanks to him for giving the free report. I totally agree that keeping writing in a human readable form and forgetting about keyword density and all that is really where it is going. With grammar algorithms out there, it’s only a matter of time before search engines will start penalizing for bad language-specific grammar.

Hello Ana, Interesting SEO report Its free so we can’t complain. Some of the stuff is basic but some are interesting points, different approach I like that. Since Google changes its rules all the time you have to try and be on top of the SEO.
Thank you

Marios invites you to read: Where to Promote a Blog Contest or Sweepstakes
I think once you know enough about SEO, blogging, and internet marketing in general, every ebook becomes too basic to a certain degree.
I know that’s the case with me.
However, it’s like you said, Marios - it’s those golden nuggets that we keep digging for and most of the time, do find, that matter.
Have a great weekend!
You cannot argue with free! Thanks for the head-up, Ana.
