Ana, I’m digging the features in CommentLuv premium. I didn’t even know they released it. Thanks for giving back to the community and teaching us newbies.
It’s a great plugin.
Ana
Thank you for your thorough overview. Whilst some of it still baffles me, I got the gist! I just logged into my new(ish) working mums wordpress site and there was an advert about commentluv premium. I clicked through and watched the video, but remembered having see an email from you about it. Even though I hadn’t read it at the time, I came to your site and have just bought CL Premium through your link here. There’s reciprocity, social proof and general reader loyalty in action I guess. Thanks again for all your advice.
I hope you’ll get as much out of it as I and so many other bloggers did, Amanda.
Thanks for the purchase!
I have CommentLuv Premium and believe everyone should have it. It makes commenting fun! And CL has terrific support for beginners. Do not hesitate!

Ana,
If don’t have CommentLuv Premium is the basic version still worth installing?
Thanks,
Ryan H.
Definitely is, Ryan - it won’t give you, the blogger, as many benefits, but your readers will still love it.
We spent some time visting your blog today looking for interesting blogs to feature on our blog. We aren’t overly fond of Akismet ourslefs - have you seen the behive plugin - it worked for us but seemed to spam our contest post enteries. We’d love to have you join us at blogprwire - we are looking for new blogs in the tech genere
Funny you think of my blog as a “techie” one, Kim, but I know what you mean.
Just got back from your blog - great niche!
Once again, awesome post. I have been blogging for a couple of years and there are so many useful nuggets in your posts. I have upgraded to Thesis theme, and I am eager to add CommentLuv as soon as it become available… this week right. Watched the videos, and seen the promotions; anxious to add.
Thanks again for sharing your wisdom.

Hi Ana
I don’t hope that it is too late to join. I have added the code to my latest post: http://www.techwork.dk/smartphones/5-cool-apps-for-your-windows-phone-7-5-mango
I would really love to win this plugin, it is great and I know that Andy have put a lot of work in to it. Great idea to ask people to click on Google+ to be able to select for their latest 10 posts.

Not too late at all, Thomas - the plugin is still in prelaunch and I’ll announce the winner as soon as it’s released.
Thanks a lot Ana for organizing this contest. I have added the text block /paragraph to my latest post,The one which has been added as the commentluv link in this comment. I really hope that luck favors me to win this giveaway but any how commentluv premium is great from whatever I have seen, i.e. after reading its reviews and seeing it being used in other blogs.

I don’t understand everything about how comment luv works. I read your whole article but I’m new to the idea of wanting comments on my blog, as a result of getting a lot of spam and thinking I would loose power from links to other websites on my blog. What exactly is the google +1 show 10 posts? Who’s posts are they?
Thanks for all of your helpful information including the Big G PDF. I hope that makes sense.
Everyone gets spam, but by writing good content, you will receive valid comments too. It shows that people value what you write and they will share and buy whatever you sell.
Google+1 is like Facebook’s like button. Please use my site’s search function to learn more about it.
The 10 posts are related to CommentLuv and they are your posts. I have written many posts on this too, explaining exactly how it works. Please again search for those posts.
I hope this helps.
Good rundown on the plugin, Ana. This may not apply to your particular blog, or perhaps doesn’t apply to it now, but have you found that having commentluv brings other commentluvers in? In other words, does your site get discovered by others who are also using commentluv or is this something you had to facilitate — and then the other commentluvers started to come in? I hope I’m being coherent in presenting the question. Thanks.
You are coherent, Thomas and yes, that’s one of the many ways in which it works very well.
I just got the Comment Luv premium. I must say it is genius. I am already seeing the benefits.
First, GREAT review/commentary. I agree 100%. Second, I LOVE CommentLuv Premium. It’s possibly the best investment I’ve made on my blog. It’s amazing, though, how some are so resistant (and even hostile) to “having to pay” for a plug-in. Sure, I’d like everything to be free…but guess what comes with free? TONS of spam, lack of SEO/linkbuilding/engagement. Hey, to each his own, but I know what’s better for me.
Kristin invites you to read: You will FLIP over this giveaway!

Awesome review and Thanks to Andy for turning us onto you. Sadly, I temporarily deactivated commentluv (to see if it was responsible for duplicate posts being created in wordpress-I’ll know by tomorrow). Regardless, I’m so hoping there is no conflict because I love the tool.
Keep up the good blogging and tips,

Welcome to Traffic Generation Cafe, Mike.
I’ve got some conflicts I need to figure out as well - I suppose it’s a part of running a blog.
I would really love to use this plugin, however, I have not been able to use the free version at all. I don;t know if my other plugins are conflicting or what. How unfortunate, because I love the idea of it.
I wonder why, Renee…
I really hate it when plugins work on every other blog, but mine - so frustrating!
Hope you’ll figure it out one way or another.
Ana,
I wanted to mention how I resolved it in case someone else has a similar issue. There was a snafu with my WP minify plugin. To fix it, I opened the WP minify settings and added Commentluv to the “JavaScript files to exclude from minify (line delimited).” field. It works beautifully now.
Thanks for letting us know, Renee.
I have something conflicting with my premium version, but haven’t had a chance to take a look at what it could be. Now you gave me an idea.
WOW. The +1, Tweet, and Like backlinking feature is awesome. No wonder you got so many Love. You got my tweet too.

I am currently using Livefyre on my site and have noticed a substantial drop in comments but it has decreased my spam also quite a great deal. I am mulling whether to go back to commentluv or not. I felt really comfortable using that system. Another reason I started using Livefyre was because with commentluv I had to install a series of plugins like gasp,do follow, keyword luv, etc. etc, just to take advantage of all that it had to offer. I must admit I miss it a great deal. One thing I have noticed about livefyre is that it will pull comments from my facebook page and twitter on any link that I post from my blog. I’m torn about which way to go. ::sighs:: I really miss commentluv though even if I have to pay for it. =)
Al Spaulding invites you to read: Who Will Be The Next Troy Davis?
Al, I may tell you something that you have realized already, but a drop in comments will usually translate into a drop in spam as well. CommentLuv Premium contains all those plugins - it’s an 8-in-1. It’s worth it! LOL!
Hi Ana,
Your article is nice, you explained every detail very well. We got the same perspective about CommentLuv, “CommentLuv Premium has one of the best spam-controlling plugins built right into it.”for me it help the blog to be interactive as well you help your commenter to promote link. You can still check out the comments to avoid non-sense spam.
- Marvin
I’m going to switch to GASP. Easier to install since I don’t have to secure an API as I would have to do with Akismet.
Also, awesome features on the premium version. Like Ray though, I don’t have a scheduled post that would fit. I may find time to work on it as there’s still time before the launch.
Best of luck to everyone who has already entered and thank you Ana for the offer.
Noel Addison invites you to read: Mobile Website – Do You Need One?
I have just installed the plugin last week and it works amazingly! But I think it’s not the Premium one since it was for free. I haven’t heard of GASP until now. I have been using Akismet to all of our WP generated blogs and it seems to work fine. How better is it compared to Akismet?
Here’s how it’s better, Glen - if I comment on your blog today, chances are Akismet will send my comment into spam or worse yet won’t ever show it in any of your folders. So you’ll never know I commented and I won’t come back because you never published my comment.
And this happens a lot with Akismet.
CommentLuv Premium hasn’t been released yet; it’s coming out next week. I’ll have something special for my blog readers on Monday - come check it out.
Yay. I didn’t know Akismet would be that lame. I’ve been using it on our Wordpress Blogs as it was quite popular (and it’s recommended).
CommentLuv Premium — I’ll surely come back on Monday. Cheers!
Hi Ana,
I was one of the lucky ones who was able to get the Premium CommentLuv for a low price prior to it’s release to general public. So you can take my name off the list.

Hi Ana,
I really love CommentLuv *hint *hint and would be using it if I owned a blog. I know I have discovered awesome bloggers by following their ComLuv links.
Is there any chance that Andy will design a similar system for static websites? All other systems that can be used on static websites require a registration and a log in and I wouldn’t want people to go through that just to leave a comment.

Awesome review/giveaway. Looks like I might just be buying my first wordpress plugin. That like, tweet or plus feature is the greatest attraction I have to this plugin.
Either way, you’ll love it, Udegbunam.
Hi Ana,
I’ve been using comment luv for about a year and no matter the cost I’m not about to stop. I think if I heard right it’s going to be a 20 usd plugin now? I think that’s a reasonable price to pay. I can’t wait for it to be released I’m sure my members will love that fact that I have it.
It is reasonable and completely worth it.
Hey Ana,
Excellent explanation of the new CommentLuv Premium Plugin. As you know, I have been using the free version on my blog pretty much ever since I started it, last November. And I know my blog would not be where it is today if I hadn’t been using CommentLuv. Andy Bailey is the man, in my opinion his plugins are some of the best out there.
I applied to be a beta tester for premium, but unfortunately wasn’t one of the lucky few who he chose. Anyway, I love that Andy packaged all of his best plugins into one. GASP has been such a help on my blog, I can’t see why anyone wouldn’t use it.
I am definitely going to enter your contest, as I really want CommentLuv Premium. If I don’t win, I am still going to buy it, no matter the price. It will be worth it!
I will come back and leave a comment once I write my next post with the required text.
Thanks Ana for this contest, personally I think this is a better prize than the thesis giveaway and I love Thesis.

Hey Ana,
You know I am a beta tester too, and I have actually not upgraded to the new 3.0.0.24.1 version just yet. When ever I seem to upgrade I lose all my settings and need to start again.
Maybe need to mention that in the beta tester forum. Also I see Andy has added the Twitter ID function, I hope he adds my suggestion in the forum too. I will of course add the link back in my next post, but don’t enter me in the comp as I already have it!
Craig
I assume you mentioned it to Andy?
Hi Ana,
I had not heard of GASP I will give it a try.
Have you come across the wordpress plugin wpcomment cash? It is supposed to turn your spam comment links into affiliate links?
I could post a link later if you like?
I am seriously going to have to turn my comments back on, I have currently got a facebook comment app on it. I really need to utilise my high pr to drive some more traffic through comments. Could be push I need lol.
http://howtobuildyourlist.net/list-building-tips-for-all/
I have not, Chris. Yes, having comments turned on is important.
This plugins is something like that we seriously need it as it proves to be most useful and important in matter of BACKLINK and TRAFFIC.
There is no need to have second thought to get this even if one have PAY as Some stuff are valued more than that actual value.
Thats true Ana I too believe in investing as it a FACT that investment and business both are two parallel lines of trains tracks which run together and if we want to reach our destiny i.e success and profit then we have travel on this tracks.
LOL! Now that’s what I’m talkin’ about…a feature bio-box…;)
I too had to dump Akismet, Ana. I believe what happens is that legit comments get flagged by bloggers and once that IP is flagged on the Akismet servers, they just get thrown in the SPAM folder where ever they comment on an Akismet-enabled blog.
Just curious, how long did it take for your traffic levels to rise due to linking out in your comments? I love to get data like this…:)
Mark
Mark invites you to read: How To Set Up A Website For Your (Or A Clients) Business
That’s exactly what happened to me, Mark - someone must’ve not liked what I said on their blog and flagged me as a spammer and now I can’t comment on any Akismet-enabled blog. Their loss? LOL
You have to clarify what you mean by “linking out in your comments” for me to answer your question.
Wow. If they are not allowing YOU to comment on their blogs Ana, then that is indeed their loss.
Additionally, by the term “linking out in your comments”, I was simply referring to using the CommentLuv or KeywordLuv plugins which link out automatically…
Just curious as to how it affected your traffic…:)
Mark
I know, right?… LOL
I actually have always been generous with my comment policy, Mark - I’ve always had CL and KL (although my KL is not working properly right now).
So to answer your question: I have no idea! For a change…
Nice article Ana,
No doubt in that these tips are enough to take many Backlilnks but for this we should follow these great rules step by step from name to keywords because on behalf on keywords Backlinks will count.
Sounds delicious, Ana. I have to say that I love commentluv and would love to have the premium version on my blogs
What a great informative post you have here, and yes, with commentluv, one of the most attractive comment area as well.
I am surprise, now, when I see very big blogs out there not giving any attractive options on their comment area.
Let me tell you since it’s one of the arguments of your blog post, that it’s your comment area that made me come back to your blog at first. You’re right LOL!!!

I think many bigger blog owners think that the readers will come no matter what and stop giving them any incentives, like additional link building with CL.
I think it’s sad and don’t see any reason to turn my back on my readers no matter the size.
I guess this would be a good reason for me to start using wordpress huh?

I am curious about the anti SPAM filters.
I have been using mollom.com for some time now and don’t get any spam. However I do not know if I am missing any legitimate comments either
How do you manage this?
Never heard of the service, Tim, so can’t tell you how credible it is.
With Akismet for instance, the way you know you are missing out on legitimate comments is by finding those comments sitting in your spam folder.
Do you have any comments getting into your spam folder or is it clean?
Hi Ana
Great info here on the CommentLuv plugin. I never even knew about it. So I guess I should go check it out some more.

I plan on making one more update to the Hohum post, where I’m happy to link to this giveaway, even if that disqualifies me. I’m just waiting for the CloudFlare system to do whatever it is that is does…
Cheers,
Mitch

That’s great. Thanks for stopping by, Mitchell.
Ana, Melinda (FindingtheHumor.com) was kind enough to recommend me for an early discount. I was so jazzed … I wrote a post. LOL
You, Melinda and some other fine folks are front and center. (Linked, below)
Thanks again!
Cheers,
Mitch
Saw your name on the “discount” list, Mitch - so glad you got it!
Thanks for the link luv, by the way.
Cheers for the always great information Ana - had to get my entry in!

Thanks for the info on the new plugin Ana. I’ve been thinking about installing the basic CommentLuv for a month or so, having used it for commenting on other blogs a fair bit. Think I’ll wait to see if I win this first, then dive in even if not.
Cheers!
Colin
Sounds like a good plan, Colin, and thanks for the link luv!
Hi Ana,
I really, really want this plugin!!! I am so glad you are running this contest, because I’ve been in love with CommentLuv since first using it. My post is http://www.speakingoflove.net/the-help-movie-review/. Sally Brown
Thanks so much, Sally; I’ll let you know!
Hi Anna wow you are very far over my head!!! I have a blog but do not activly use it as I am naive na ignorant of the possibilities of blogging. I have been marketing on the net for about nine years now and reading your content makes me feel like a baby!! ;>) I still have soooooo much to learn!! Questing and Learning is what Life is all about and Loving!!!!!
Okay, Ana… Had to have a little tongue-in-cheek fun with this.

Saw it - not another boring post, that’s for sure, Doc!
Had to add that disclaimer at the end, though… don’t want to get lynched by your fans.
I know you love me, Doc; you can’t fool anyone… LOL
This sounds like a great giveaway Ana. I just hit publish on my latest post before I read this. Another thing is, adding this offer to my post will date it. I suppose if I take it out later it won’t republish to my RSS fee. (I don’t think) I read through your SEO ebook. Taking baby steps but using the google keyword tool is really helpful and I never understood what the h1, h2,h3 were used for before. I am sure I have been highlighting all kinds of crazy keywords. The GASP plugin sounds like something I need.

Hi Ana, Great explanation of CommentLuv Premium! I’ve always said that if I could have just one plugin on my blog, it would be CommentLuv. Now with all of these great features you have explained, CLP will be even better.
Thanks so much for giving us thorough details about this!

Carolyn invites you to read: Google Flights - Your Ticket to Airfare Searches!
I definitely agree, Carolyn - that’s exactly the answer I gave in one of my latest interviews.
I’ve seen Andy selling CL+ to a selected bunch of beta testers (you too
) for $2o as a kind of discount.
I agree there is a lot of nice features included in the Premium edition, but really … I don’t see that much benefit of CL+ that make it worth much more than that.
Sorry but +$30 and I leave this plugin on the shelf.
It’s all about seeing value, Michael. If you don’t see it, you don’t. For me - I absolutely do.
Well you got me convinced Ana, how much?
I’m looking forward to it!
Al
No idea on the price, Al - Andy is keeping it under covers.
Another great post from Ana. I just took a look at my Askimet stats and found that it’s caught over 12,000 spam comments this month alone. Yipes! I am concerned that it doesn’t seem to do a really good job of separating valid comments from spam bots though. CommentLuv Premium sounds fabulous - so thank you again, Ana.
I’ve enclosed your code on my blog in this post http://wdtalk.com/archives/5357 .
Steve Hostirian invites you to read: Why You Should Blog
Thanks for the link luv, Steve!
See the problem I had with Akismet was that in the sea of all automated spam they were catching, there were plenty of legit comments going into spam as well, but with hundreds of spam comments to comb through, finding the good ones took away too much time.
As a result, I was loosing blog commentators who wanted to contribute, yet their comments simply never showed up.
With GASP, all those problems are gone.
Hey Ana, you ROCK! Thanks for this awesome review and tips on how to get more link luv. Heres to the contest. my latest post gives you a little luv back
Already a winner, seeing as how you hooked me up with an awesome link. thanks for that, but, who knows maybe I can get lucky twice
Your luv is much appreciated, James, and look forward to seeing CommentLuv Premium on your blog.
PS How come your latest post didn’t show up in my CommentLuv links? Is your feed working?
I’m not sure why it didn’t show up Ana. something weird was going on that day. when I made my post about this one, for some reason the code got messed up and the links didn’t work. got it fixed now. Had all kinds of weird tech issues that day, all unrelated really but weird stuff. Feed is working now though.

Great Review Ana! I definitely see the benefits of CLP. Do you know what the price point is should we not win the giveaway?

Also I can’t get the regular commentluv to work ony my blog without deactivating w3 total cache which is a real bummer. Hopefully Andy fixes that.
I use W3 Total Cache and CommentLuv without any problems. Are you sure it isn’t another plugin causing the problem?
Michael Robinson invites you to read: The art of the landing page
I use W3TC and CL too and can confirm it works with no problems too.
Hi, Joshua - Andy is not budging on revealing the price; I think it’ll be a surprise to all of us.
As far as W3 cache is concerned, Andy and I did have a talk about it and he did mention that W3 sometimes interferes with CL.
He tried to work with them on the issue, but then they made some changes and it was too much for Andy to keep up.
W3 cache also conflicts with some other plugins on my blog, so I turned it off.
Ana,
Oustanding thorough Article. I definitely only use GASP now, never akismet for me or any of my clients.
Awesome summary of the CommentLuv Premium. I love that I’ll be able to choose from some of my favorite posts, NOT just my latest posts!
Also, you said that you changed your blog to a “Do Follow” Blog. My blog is listed on your list of CommentLuv enable blogs (thanks) as a “No Follow” blog. You emailed me on this but I still didn’t understand.
How do I make my blog a “Do Follow” blog? Thanks so much for this and all your great stuff!
Sincere,
Jupiter Jim
Jupiter Jim invites you to read: WordPress Tutorial: How to Create a “Better WordPress Google XML Sitemap” to improve blog SEO
Wordpress by default is a nofollow platform, Jim.
So in order to turn your blog into a dofollow one, you just need to install a plugin that’s called “dofollow” (it’s in your WP plugin directory), and that will turn your blog into dofollow.
Let me know if this makes sense.
I’m already using GASP (and learned about it here) and CommentLuv so this should be a great giveaway! Thank you!
If you are a blogger …
Perfect, Mary - you already know the value those two provide.
I love the incentives of this plugin. One seo program I use often is Fast Blog Finder and it always returns no-follow, do-follow and ‘mixed’ blog pages to comment on. I guess the ‘mixed’, which was always a bit of a mystery to me is now a little clearer. Post a few comments and then after a few published comments you get dofollow…just like yours Ana.
That’s a great way for many blogs to go, Andy - encourages more consistent commenting and discourages one-time spammers.
Glad I could shed some light on the issue for you.
This is an awesome giveaway idea Ana, Not sure when the plugin comes out but I’m sure it’s gonna rock the blogosphere!

Hi Ana,
I love CommentLuv and looking forward to the Premium version.
I did copy and pasted the code you have provided but your links are broken…both links comes with a line across them and clicking on them comes with an error message ‘Not Found’.
You are so right, Nezih - the HTML code wasn’t translating into links correctly.
THANK YOU!
I would’ve had a bunch of broken links leading to my blog, if it weren’t for you.
The code is now ready to copy and paste - no HTML any longer.
Ana,
It is fixed…Thanks

Not bad Ana, I like the idea of the new CommentLuv. I have seen it on other blogs but have never gotten to test it. I will try out for this giveaway as well

Hi, Tim:
It was brought to my attention that the code I provided in my post and that you pasted in yours was broken. I changed it now and would love for you to do me a favor and copy and paste yours again - last thing I want you to have is a couple of broken links on your blog!
Thanks,
Ana
Ana,
I have updated the links.
Thanks
