I‘ve been getting a lot of questions about how I am able to give my readers a chance to choose any one of the last 10 posts as opposed to the last one only via the CommentLuv plugin.
I feel very privileged to have been one of the testers of the newly improved plugin and now I am honored to present it to you - my readers.
Take a look at this:
I know, I know, it got a bit tricky at the end, but we both want to know what is at the end of the rainbow, so let’s CLICK IT!
And just in case you are still hanging out here, let me ask you this:
Would you install the new CommentLuv version on your site? Comment to show me that you’re alive!

{ 50 comments… read them below or add one }
Just a tip, the whole point of commentluv is to encourage valuable comments in exchange for a dofollow link back to the posters website. By putting nofollow tags on all of the commentluv links (as you have done) kind of defeats the purpose.

I can see your point, Chad; however, no one says CL links have to be dofollow.
In the past year, I got over 20K comments; you can only image how many links I have to deal with on a daily basis.
I can see that you are not willing to give your readers an extra link at all - no CL.
I love commentluv both on my blog and as a commenter. If you are a blogger with diverse subjects the choice of your last 10 posts must be awesome, but for me it’s like oh my another decision, so i’ll just go with my last post.

love your advice. I completely agree with you on the closed comments… all my blogger friends say they prefer to leave them open but I think closing them after a set amount of time is really the best practice.

Commentluv is the best thing that’s ever happen to the blogging world. Andy can hold his head up proud that he has made such a contribution. With this plugin the blogger is able to reward his commentators as well as being rewarded when leaving a comment on another commentluv enabled blog. Well done Andy!

Hi, Ana. Great post about commentluv. From what I understand (I’m quite new to implementing SEO) commentluv helps by giving the reader a list of relevant articles related to the post, while at the same time, promoting the sites where these articles are located. I hope I got that right. Are there other benefist from using it besides promotion?

That’s correct, Mike. You will discover different benefits for yourself as you use it.
I love the old comment love, so I’m a bit worried about changing - I think I’ll watch out for your advice!
By the way Anna, could you tell me what the plugin is called that says: ‘Look how easy I’ve made it for you to RT?’ can’t find it anywhere!
Love your new clean blog layout by the way!

As far as the Twitter plugin is concerned, it’s called Twitter @Anywhere.
Ana
That’s great Ana, Thank you! : )

This is great for people with multiple blogs, Ana. I’ve always been stuck with just my last post from two of my blogs. I would have to use multiple accounts to be able to accomplish what this plugin now does by me just changing the website address. Thanks for making it easier for us.

I was under the impression that if you register at comluv you can add your details and feed after that you can pick any of the last 10. If you do not register at comluv then you can only pick 1 - the last post. Although, I find that it does mess up from time to time and wont find anything. Other times it works great. I think you can add other feeds so you have even more to pick from for a small fee, but not sure about that or how it works. It is an interesting plugin.

It is an excellent tool. If you post your site URL, you can choose the last 10. When you post your post URL, you only have that one option.
I will definitely upgrade my CommentLuv version. You need to reward your commentators somehow, right?
Cristian invites you to read: My blog post writing routine
Absolutely! Without commentors you won’t have a blogging community.
Hello Ana,
I just watched the full 15 minute video with Andy and I am super excited about the changes. I have used commentluv for over two years on my site. It was one of the first plugins I installed.
Did he tell you when he plans on releasing the “next chapter” video?
I assume that you have the new version installed on your site now, but I wasn’t required to register to see the last 10 posts. Is there an option in the settings to just let people have the goods if you don’t want to make them register for something?
Also please tell me what the two plugins are that allowed you to have that easy retweet and facebook comment box?
I only have the buttons on my posts, but it would be great to have that retweet already written up. Might help show someone there is no work involved to help me out a bit if they liked my article.
Thanks for the commentluv update.

Hi, Damon:
I think the next video is coming out on Thursday. I love, love, love all the new changes as well.
Making your readers register on your site before allowing them the option of choosing from their last 10 posts is one of the ways you can set up the plugin. I chose not to do that for now. Still looking for a way to capitalize on that and I think I found it. My Thursday post will be about that.
The retweet plugin I use is called “Twitter @Anywhere”. Facebook comment plugin is called just that - “facebook comments”.
Thanks for coming by!
No sound on this PC so didnt watch it (not a fan of watching content anyway) but I assumethis new version simply does away with the need to register with commentluv?
Good idea Andy.
Do I need to install this or will the current plugin update to this?
Alex invites you to read: 3 Fundamental Reasons Why You Will Never Make Money with Your Blog.
The main feature of this new plugin is the giving your readers the ability to choose from the last 10 posts as opposed to the latest one only.
You can choose for them to register with your site first BEFORE you allow them to do that. Are you thinking what I am thinking?
The new WPSusbscribers lets you add anyone who registers on your site to your list!
So it’s a great list building feature aside from anything else, Alex.
I don’t know when the plugin will be available for this update through your dashboard. I am sure at some point it will.
For now, it exists only as a zip file.
From reading your blog I have got the clear message you are a huge supporter of enabling comments on your blog.
I have not done so on my blog at because my blog is only a marketing tactic to help support my offline business. My blog is not my primary business so I can’t focus all of my time on it. I have thought about adding the comment feature but am a little freaked out.
My fear is that comments will be posted and I won’t be able to leave a reply at all or respond not in a timely manner and as a result of being able to keep up with the comments and read them all that overall it will have a negative impact.
How much time does it take you to leave comment replies and stay up to speed? Or how much time would I need to allocate to reading comments and replying per week.
Yes, you are reading correctly. For a blog to be successful, you need to enable comments or else have a static site - there are no half measures. We had another conversation about this about a week ago, where we discussed whether or not it is an idea for people who are unable to manage their comments, to hire someone trustworthy to do it for them. I know this is not ideal, but it’s better than not responding at all. Responding to comments does not take a lot of time. As you can see, I get many comments every day and I also comment on other blogs using ComLuv. I probably spend about an hour a day. Remember, as with everything else in life - practice makes perfect!
I agree that the default comment system for Blogger blogs stinks. You are much better off replacing it if you want any real volume of comments. This is especially true if the blog is brand new.
